i just want to point out that these are two pretty different fundraising approaches.

the raisbeck's are incredibly generous, but at SO they have established an endowment that funds lead singer roles..what they're doing at SSO is encouraging other donors to underwrite guest artists appearances by matching those gifts and providing the donors with personal access to the artists.

i think it's a great way to encourage high-level support of the organization, and i think it's pretty cheap to characterize it as a price tag for dinner - it's supporting the organization as a whole, not just buying a fancy meal with yo-yo ma.

Keep wishing that Yo-Yo Ma could have hooked up with Jo Jo Dancer.
