This Rummy resignation thing is really politically savvy...their new secdef nominee (Robert Gates) sounds like the very definition of a moderate.

The republican party is obviously executing a post-election contingency plan.

Yes, lets lead with gay marriage and pot legalization! Then we can go back to the minority before all the furniture is moved into the leadership offices!!!

the road ahead is long and hard. i hope that the resounding wins will provide the dems in office with the confidence and wherewithal to get the fucking job done.

Howard Baker had a little talk with the prez. A little message from the reality-based community. I'm actually surprised that they let Bush out of his bubble; I was expecting to see him continue to work with "Senator Santorum" and all the rest, play-acting their way into the George in Wonderland script.

Tony Snow came out with some talking points about fighting uneeded supeonas and committees. I hope the democrats remember that part of doing the peoples business in congress is oversight of the executive branch. We need to hold hearings and use our supeona power to get to the bottom of things like the Downing Street Memos, the secretive energy policy, and the unwarranted wiretapping of citizens by the NSA.

Kudos to Howard Dean, and his insistence on a 50 state strategy. That laid the groundwork for success in supposedly unreachable Red America.

And he had the good sense to stay in the background leading up to the elections.

I'm totally with "N" @ 6. Major major kudos to Dean and his sticking with the 50 State Strategy despite significant grousing.

The decision to compete in places like Indiana and Ky-3 made yesterday. Hell, Wyoming (!) house seat is still to close to call. I'd say that's vindication!

Agree, 50 state is the only way to go. Wish Dean would run for Pres with Gore as VP.

Dammit, I want them to call that Wyoming House seat - if Cubin loses, that gives me THREE bingos on my Republican Bingo card!
