Politics Burner-Reichert: It’s Over
posted by November 13 at 19:57 PM
onToday’s count didn’t go very well for Darcy Burner (move along, nothing to see here) and now the Seattle Times is reporting that Dave Reichert has declared victory. In addition, the AP is reporting that it has called the race for Reichert.
I just spoke to Burner’s campaign manager, Zach Silk, and he tells me that Burner is going to be placing a call to Reichert tonight and will be holding a press conference at 11 a.m. tomorrow morning at her eastside headquarters.
Is Burner’s phone call tonight going to be the traditional concession call from the loser to the victor? Silk wouldn’t say. He would only repeat that the call was going to be made and that Burner and Reichert were going to have “a private conversation.”
“You can interpret that as you will,” Silk told me.

The P-I is running an AP story declaring Reichert the winner.
Um, why did you put it this way:
"Is Burner’s phone call going to be the traditional concession call from the loser to the victor?"
I don't understand why this question was posed this way. Why wouldn't Darcy call Reichert to concede if she doesn't have the votes to win? Is there something loser-y about that? Is she supposed to sit in her room and pout? That would be a loser thing to do.
I think a better way to put that is:
"Is Burner calling Reichert to concede the election?"
i'm with what? above. what other sort of call would she be making? is she refusing to concede? i certainly hope not.
it's disappointing that she lost but it's clearly over.
god dammit.
Praise the Lord!!
