Update: Burner Concedes

posted by on November 13 at 22:12 PM

Via the AP:

Reichert said Burner called to congratulate him on a second term, and the two shared their frustrations about the slow pace of Washington’s largely vote-by-mail elections.

“Finally, something we agree on,” Reichert told The Associated Press in a phone interview from Washington, D.C.

Wait a minute. I just saw a commercial for tonight's news that said Burner had refused to concede even though AP had called it for Reichert. What's going on?

“Finally, something we agree on,”

Huh? If this man really believes he is independent and represents his constituents then he would agree with many of Darcy Burner's positions on the issues, including those where he had no position because he was uneducated about the issue (read media conglomoration and net neutrality).

The man is just so full of himself.

"Finally, something we agree on"?

What a dick. Glad that this arrogant SOB isn't my representative.

Some of us aren't so lucky.

That sucks -- but can you guys go back to hating and/or ignoring the suburbs again?

$100 down the drain. Oh well. Reichert is pompous, but certainly isn't the worst Republican.

So Congressman Hairdo will go back to DC to do the biddings of his corporate masters. Out in suburban King, and down in Pierce County, the stupid slobs who live in the cheap new houses and think they are conservative will continue to be screwed by Reichert's masters whenever possible. They don't know any better. They think they "voted their values"

Meanwhile, the adjustable rate mortgage they used to get their shitty little house will rise faster than the maintenance costs. They'll blame that on "the liberals and their welfare programs", and the next time Congressman Hairdo has a TV commercial, they'll believe him and cast their vote again, chanelling their anger but at the same time fueling it.

The slumming of our outer ring suburbs will continue.

I can't believe the Green River killer has been elected to another term. Sure I believe that people can be reformed but... a mass muderer...congress...two terms!?

"$100 down the drain"? Uh-uh. I kicked in $100 for Darcy, too, despite being over here in the 7th, and our funding of Burner drew RNCC resources away from other House fights across the country--and we all know how that went. Any money spent on any competitive house race this year wasn't wasted.

Political donations are akin to a giant money pit. I hold it in the same esteem as a church's offering plate.

All anyone really did was make a whole slew of politicians filthy rich.

Our long, semi-regional nightmare is finally over!

The donations were certainly not wasted. By raising as much money as she did, Darcy made this race competitive, which NONE of the political know-it-alls were predicting last spring. This seat was considered safe Republican. By raising as much money as quickly as she did, and making this a truly competitive race, she forced the Republican Congressional Committee to commit resources to what was previously considered a safe seat, one they could ignore. They committed literally MILLIONS to the TV ad campaign against her. Certainly that cost Darcy the seat - but it might also have made it possible for Claire McCaskill, Jon Tester, and Jim Webb to win their seats, which were also considered safely Republican.

No, the money most definitely was not wasted. I gave every spare penny I had, and a few beyond that, to Darcy's campaign, and I don't begrudge one red cent of it.

Yeah, we should all stop giving to politicians. Then we'll only get people rich enough to finance their own campaigns.. Nice plan.
