The Sonics aren't going anywhere. Well, they might, but they're really more of a back-up plan.

For those of you worried fans out there, think about it. The Hornets are already playing games in OK City. New Orleans, while steadily climbing its way out of the open sewers it calls streets (build a major city below sea level, surrounded on all sides by water? Really? You think that's a good idea?), cannot support an NBA franchise in the long-term. The 8 games of an NFL regular season, sure, but not 41 regular season NBA games + preseason (which is the same price for a seat - ridiculous) + the 2nd longest playoffs in professional sports, after hockey (maybe the 3rd if you count cricket, but really...does anyone count cricket?). Now, factor in the golden goose of the modern NBA arena - the luxury box - how many companies in New Orleans do you think are prioritizing these decadences over...say...oh, I don't know...rebuilding offices and warehouses? Plus, which team would be easier to sell to the OK City fans - a known commodity with which they're already familiar, or a bunch of coffee drinking pussies from grunge-land?

If the Sonics do go, it ain't gonna be to OK City. And, even if they do, Allen will move the Blazers to Seattle anyway. In the modern era of professional sports, is there a more interesting team than the Jail-Blazers? No...no there isn't.

I know this is for a good cause and I hope it raises some serious scratch, but I'd rather go fishing with Mr. Alexie than attend a Sonics game.
