Calling all dancing zombies: Circus Contraption wants you.

The time has come again for the Circus Contaption Halloween Blowout Extravaganza Spectacular Throwdown, which is exactly what it says it is. At the center of the blowout extravaganza spectacular throwdown: a massive, live-action, all-zombie reenactment of the climactic dance-of-the-dead from Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” video.

Best of all, Circus Contraption’s is an equal-opportunity zombie dance troupe, and any and all interested zombie parties can get in on the act (plus info on rehearsals) by emailing thrillerdance@hotmail.com.

The party/performance goes down on Friday Oct 27 at the Showbox, and will feature performances by Circus Contraption, escape artist Scotty Walsh, and the 12-piece Balkan brass band Orkestar Zirkonium. Plus, the rendition of “Thriller” to which the zombies will be dancing will be performed by Portland’s 35-member March Fourth Marching Band.

That email again: thrillerdance@hotmail.com.

Do it: I learned and then performed the Thriller Dance last year (or was it in 2004?) with CC and the masses they recruited and it was a blast.

I think it was 2004--and I'm glad to hear it was a blast. At the time, I also hyped it as a thrilling thing to WATCH, but it turns out I was wrong. Ain't no stage big enough to hold all them dancing zombies, hence dancing on the floor, with any and all sight lines blurred by nearest dancing zombie.

The moral: Those who can't watch should do, and all interested parties should dress like zombies and learn the damn dance!

your right, the sight lines were terrible last time, which is why we are having the marching band play the music this time, so they can play the music from the floor, with the dancers on the stage. hopefully that will fix the problem.

Hurrah!

Still, I want to encourage all interested gawkers to take the leap to dancing zombiedom.

If you're over 30 and grew up in the United States, the majority of the "Thriller" choreography is lurking in your subconscious, and only needs to be lured out and slathered with zombie makeup.

Does anyone know the first recorded incident of zombie Thriller? I'm wondering if this will all turn out to have been South Park's fault...

That email doesn't exist. Sari, is there a better way to contact you?

Sorry--Dave had it wrong. It's thrillerdance@hotmail.com (not "dancer"). I fixed his post.

Whoops. Sorry.

As penance, I'm enlisting in the ZOMBIE ARMY.

Whoa. I love the Thriller dance. Check out this video of me and my friends performing it in 2005 at UW.

Here's the URL: http://youtube.com/watch?v=rX6KmKmJPaU

And another:

I'm definitely doing this thing.
