“You Don’t Pull Craftsmanship Like That Out of Your Ass…”

…or do you? From the preview for next week, it looks like Jeffrey’s a goner, but it seems unlikely that they’d totally give that away. Any predictions for next week? Discuss.

nope, i saw something on a diff. station that showed all 4 walking down teh runway with their collections. Jeffery is def. not out.

The teaser could go either way. It looks like Uli is consoling Jeffery, but she really might be congratulating.

I think they all showed collections. Even though I dislike him I would like to see his stuff.

With a little web searchery you can actually see all the collections online. Sort of like peaking at your x-mas presents though.

Things I learned from last nights show:

Laura's husband is actually more frightening than her.
"those two... children... yeeesh! "
Nice stache mister mad scientist!

Tim Gunn has very white feet.

Braces are kinda like grillz... actually no, sorry.

The image in this post gives it away... that's them doing their little speech before their shows.

He's definitely showing, but they might let him show but disqualify him from winning? Either that or they're just being sneaky bastards with their editing. Wouldn't be the first time . . .

confusing preview.

tim gunn: "i'm sorry but..."

jeffrey crying in uli's embrace.

tears of relief?? if so, what's tim sorry about. sorry he had to put jeffrey through that?

could it be a compromise? jeffrey makes it to bryant park, but some designs are disqualified? probably not. all or nothing.

he could use the keith excuse, like, "somebody went and stitched those for me and planted them in my studio!"

Yeah, I knew that he was going to show (I peeked too, and his line actually looks really good), I was just thinking along the same lines as Cate...

Kara Saun had part of her collection disqualified. They certainly let Jeffrey show, too, but perhaps only allowed certain pieces to be scored (effectively ending his chances to win)?

I was just shocked that he brought "extra" pieces with him. Who has time to complete their collection and make a few extra pieces so that they have some options and work on their other clothing line AND still have absolutely nothing to do?

They've always had a "decoy" in the past, so even though he showed at Bryant Park, it doesn't mean he's still in the competition. Now that there are 4 finalists, there's no saying that he couldn't be disqualified.

I have a feeling, though, it's a lot of manufactured drama.

He had two months in a huge studio with kick ass equipment. With all that and taking into account that he doesn't spend a lot of time designing before he starts sewing (unlike Laura, Michael, and Uli), it's no wonder he got so much done so quickly.

There is this thing called "editing." Tim my have said "I'm sorry" about something else. Its really tough to say. I agree that another likely scenario is that he can show but is disqualified.

I just find it hard to believe that they would give it away in a promo. They are tricky bastards.

He's in for sure. No doubt. Winning is a different story.

Is this some sort of "The Brady Bunch" remake?

I love all the comments at PRG from people who are deciding whether he's guilty, aufed, or whatever based on looks -- "guilty looks", "suspicious looks", etc. Right. If I followed you with a camera 24/7 I would get enough footage of you to tell any story I wanted. People "look guilty" when they're just thinking about their feet. It's all in the editing. We will see in a week's time.

Yeah, those comments are dum.

I hate this cheating, lying story line. It's a big drag. Boo!

I agree with OBVIOUS. The reason Jeffery's stuff is more put together than the others is because he's a professional designer with a huge warehouse of sewing equipment to work with. The others have their little Singers in their living rooms.

Also, Laura has 5 kids and is pregnant. When did SHE have time to sew, mmm? (I know the answer to this, I'm being rhetorical.)

I just swiped this from the Blogging Project Runway site: Here is more info about Nick Verreos's appearance in Seattle: October 17th at 3:00 PM at the La-Z-Boy Store at the Alderwood Mall in Lynnwood, Washington.

I'm not saying he didn't cheat, or that he didn't get busted and thrown off, or anything else. I'm just saying we don't know, and anyone who claims to know for sure based on "clues" is kidding themselves.

I think he got behind and hit up one of his old drug buddies for a little something to keep him awake and broke his sobriety, and that's why he's crying. Either that, or he split his three-sizes-too-small pants on the runway, and now America knows how tiny his junk is.

i think the comments about his work space are dead on. he had a lot more equipment, and he also doesn't do stuff like intricate bead work. that halter dress that tim held up when he visited was neat, but would not haven't taken that long to do.

while i don't think he broke his sobriety, i can picture him as someone who would stay awake for HUGE periods of time working.

the show always has deceiving promos, so i would guess that he was crying out of relief, and tim was saying sorry about putting him through all of this.

Couple things:

While most designers at one point or another were scrambling to finish before the runway, Jeffrey was never in that position. He's very efficient with his time.

Also, Heidi Klum was on Leno last night and she made some comment about designers being "jealous".

I think he's in and it's a great/annoying/fun-to-blog-about cliffhanger.

Just for the record, Tim doesn't say "sorry" in the preview, he says "unfortunately" but that doesn't tell you anything more, just thought I'd clarify!

Personally I think one of the things that's cool about PR is that you have aspiring, talented designers who are starting from zero, who have a couple sewing machines in their rec room or whatever...it's like winning the lottery except it's based on talent and hard work. When you have people who already have fairly established careers, especially if they are like Jeffrey and have this huge workshop and employees -- even if he actually didn't cheat -- it's just a lot less interesting.

La-Z-Boy has actually gotten pretty hep and designer-y lately. Todd Oldham has a line of furniture there that's pretty damn hot.

I agree with comment five. He's gonna be allowed to show, but disqualified from winning.

If Jeffrey's work is suspicious, then what about Cruella's beadwork crawling around on everything in sight? Beading takes HUGE amounts of time.

Jeffrey rules. Laura drools.

Anyone else tired of the manufactured drama this season? This latest episode reminds me of every other reality show now...I cann just imagine the behind-the-scenes people egging Laura on to make a big fuss about Jeffrey...and then all the mind-fuck previews that are sure to be a let-down. Zzzzzz

Cite, that's probably one of the main reasons I like Uli and Michael - they aren't made-for-TV drama queens. They are both quietly competent in their own way (Uli's a bit too woo-woo hippie-costume for my taste) without always needing to be the focus of everyone's attention. Jeffrey is the biggest whiner I've ever seen ("my stuff is so much better than everyone else's, I don't know why they even let anyone else show anything") and Cruella just frightens me. And her clothes frighten me. I'm trying to picture any woman with actual boobs wearing one of her cut-to-the-navel dresses without a Janet Jackson moment, and it just isn't happening.

Admittedly, Cruella's dresses are lovely, luxurious, and --apparently, we can't see the inside -- well made. BUT she's treading territory that is well worn by much better and infinitely more creative forbears. See Bill Blass, Carolina Herrera, Valentino, and vintage Emmanuel Ungaro (if you can get past the ruffles). The "perfect rich lady" in fashion has been in decline since around 1960 when Yves St. Laurent presented his "Beat" collection at Dior. Sure, the frostbitten social skeleton is still a part of the haute couture and high end ready-to-wear, but hardly important when it comes to artistic advances. Pretty dresses, nothing more.

Say what you like about Jeffrey, he has a fresh point of view. While not perfectly realized (although I have high hopes for his runway show), he takes real chances and has something more immediate and interesting to say than any of the remaining designers. (The zippers set into the seams of that striped dress were not wholly original, but were certainly zesty and unexpected). As for his personality traits, that's just a matter of taste. I'd rather spend the weekend with he and his family than hanging out with Cruella, Dr. Eistein, and their brood.
