The whole "increasing troops levels" statement is BS. I read in the Stars and Stripes (military paper)back in the begining of September that part of the 1st Armored Divsion is being extended past their year long tour. The effected 1st Armored Division city is Friedburg in Germany.

Also, many of my friends in the army are deploying "early" to the sandbox, as they call it, and they have known about it for at least a month. Very disingenuous for them to say they are "thinking about it now".

But honestly, they lie so much I should not be surprised.

Nearly a month after the vote, I still find myself thinking about the impact of the Military Commissions Act and the loss of habeas corpus. The Slog never covered it in much detail, so I was wondering if the news writers had some info on it.

I am wondering which Democrats in the Senate voted Yes. I hear there were 12. And who is the one Republican who voted No? I'd be interested in finding out. Is this kosher? To request a posting? I'll find out.

Democrats in favor (12) - Carper (DE), Johnson (SD), Landrieu (LA), Lautenberg (NJ), Lieberman (CT), Menendez (NJ), Nelson (FK), Nelson (NE), Pryor (AR), Rockefeller (WV), Salazar (CO), Stabenow (MI). Republicans against (1) - Chafee (RI).

I hope Seneca Wallace doesn't come out onto the field next week and get held down like a chickadee in the talon-grasp of a KC goshawk. The Seaawks' O line can't let this guy get killed out there. I'd love to see the Hawks run something of an Atlanta-stlye QB/RB running game. I'm not delusional about Morris/Wallace being Dunn/Vick, no, but finding the potential strength as a starting point is better than the coaching staff thinking that Wallace is going to be all Hasselbeck-pinpointing his 25-yard passes before his receivers come out of their cuts. It's gonna be all about ball control, and an effective short-yardage game.

Someone tell Josh Brown and the Seahawks defense that they're gonna have to go out and beat Larry Johnson and the Cheifs.

The Seahawks coaching staff can preach to Seneca Wallace to stay in the pocket all they want, but when that rush breaks the Seahawks line, his instincts will kick in and he's gonna run like mad.

The article about that 14-year-old girl flying to DC instead of Washington said "she used her own money to fly sooner than agreed upon." What 14-year-old has the money - or the know-how - to book an airline ticket? What'd she use - babysitting money? I'm baffled by that. I wouldn't have had the vaguest idea how to book a ticket at that age. Plus, what did she use for ID? Don't you have to have a state ID card or a driver license to board a plane these days? Do 14-year-olds have ID cards?

Names aren't enough, #9. I want to know the whys and hows of this important vote. The statements that led up to it. Accountability. That's why I asked the news writers who might know more about Washington politics than I do. But if you can write a decent, informative piece on these Democrats who don't give a shit about habeas corpus, or about this one Repub who went against his party, I'm willing to read it.
