What? no MM Sports Report? The Cards ruined everyone's "Tigers sweep" prediction, & the the Shehawks laid an egg against the Vikings. Nice!!!

Possibly the reason the Shiite-led security forces are having so much trouble quelling the sectarian violence in Baghdad, Balad, and elsewhere is because they are eager participants in it.

Just to go on record....

I think that it is unwise to have Obama run in '08. McCain and Guliani are more than 90% likely to be the republican Prez and Vice Prez (repectively) on the ticket. Having a Clinton/Obama run would be a waste of money. Many Dems hate Clinton (as well as many New Yorkers, comparitively to Guiliani). So I think that Obama should wait.

Don't get me wrong, I think Obama is awesome, but a failed presidential run could be a bit damning for his political future.

...proved immediately incapable of dealing with the sectarian violence in Balad

I read that as "Ballard". A showdown between the patrons of Matador and the Smoke Shop, perhaps.

I really can't see Giuliani making it onto the Republican ticket as the Pres. or Vice-Pres. candidate. No way, no how would religious conservatives stand for it.

Mainly, it would be a major mistake for Obama to link his future with Hilary. She'll only drag him down.

RE: Gerry Studds' pension benefits

Last week Dan slogged about the fact that the late US Representative Gerry Studds’ partner, Dan Hara, will not be able to receive survivor pension benefits of up to $62,000 per year due to the Defense of Marriage Act.

I did some research, and it appears that Studds did have the option of rolling his Congressional pension into an annuity or IRA -he just didn’t do it. He could have named his partner as the beneficiary of the new account, and his partner would have received most, if not all, of the benefits that are now denied to him.

In other words, this is a tragedy that did not have to happen. The laws of the US are set up to work against gay men and lesbians, but there are various methods we can employ to legally circumvent those discriminatory laws.

If you are in Seattle, everyone please pick up a copy of the GSBA Guide and find a financial advisor and estate planning attorney that you would like to work with. None of us like to think about the inevitable, but the impetus is on us to take care of ourselves and our loved ones, so there’s no time to procrastinate.

@Keshmeshi

I totally agree! Linking himself with Hilary would be career suicide. All he needs is to keep in the public eye, ie on Leno, Daily Show, Colbert Report, Larry King, etc. The more he can start his talking points the better.

What exactly has Barak Obama *accomplished* during his single term as Senator? Who does he think he is? What makes him think he is qualified to...erm...I mean...you can't be President with such a short history of holding political office...right?

Answer: He accomplished a Bono rock-star tour of darkest Africa. Other than that ...

Did anyone here hear ABC/CBS radio reports of election night 2004? It was all Osama Obama all the time. After the faux Krushing Kerry Landslide exit polls pooped out, Big Media didn't want bore listeners by talking about the tired, silly presidential election. Nooooooo ... the Real News of election 2004 was the skinny kid from Illinois.
