Unless Bush estimated in December that there were 1.65 FBI agents with Arabic proficiency, which I really hope he did.

Concerning women's abuse:
I'm a straight white male living and working in Seattle. Not long ago, a woman/coworker, in the midst of training a new employee, described me as (paraphrasing) "you know the quiet type, the kind you got to watch out for. he probably has old women dead bodies in his basement." Now, this is obviously unprofessional, but maybe given our conditioning, I simply brushed it off thinking "hey, maybe I have a suspicious image" or "she is so whack to to come out and say that." Furthermore, those in hearing distance appeared to acknowledge the "dig" as acceptable even charming. Heck, I'm a white male, I should be able to take anything in retribution for my ancestors atrocities.
I don't know, there's lots to say on the matter. But as The Smiths sing "I am human and need to be loved, just like everyone else does," I believe a lot of us sensitive male types are going to start dishing back to the "unfortunate" minorities which will create another backlash.
Equal rights people. We all have feelings. Thanks for the article. It's constructive to learn another's perspective, occasionally.
Either I'm having deja vu or I'm prescient. Isn't this all yesterday's news?
Ryan: Seriously.
lol @ Bill
Yeah, I thought this was yesterday's news.
It is yesterday's news. Where's the Foley notes?
Ryan - that joke was tasteless and rude. I hope you stared at her and said, "Excuse me?!" to make it clear you found it offensive. People who think that kind of thing is humorous need to be called on their shit.
I'm a hardcore feminist, but that doesn't mean I'm a misandrist by default. I don't blame all men for the crimes of a few, or for societal ills they neither create nor perpetuate. On the other hand, a woman like that one, who makes that kind of alienating "joke," IS perpetuating the problems between the genders.
It's really instructive to spend time with intersexed people, because so many people spend so much time and effort trying to either force them to choose a gender, or trying to pigeonhole them as one or the other. It's like most people can't stand the idea of androgyny, because they don't know how to treat the person. Here's an idea - treat people like people first, and a gender a very distant second.

Note especially what T van D writes about your Foley bottom-feeding frenzy.
T van D can jump in the sound.
