Denver area man is my new hero.

Imagine that, he probably walked his seven year old to piano practice the same way everyday... dreaming about life without neo-cons, when lo, who does he see... Dick. At first he is like, holy shit, that man looks just like Dick, nah can't be... but what, those men look just like the secret service guys on tv. Wow, that must be him, then he (in effect) told Dick to "Fuck Off".

Thanks Denver area man, dreams can come true.

Something you missed in this mornings news:

Malpractice insurer fined; multiple violations cited
http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/287414_tl104.html

Maybe it's just me, but aren't the offenders the main contributors to the failled I-933? Did they artificially jack their premiums up in order to scare up a yes vote? Or perhaps as retribution for voting it down?

Do you ever wonder if Republicans and the people that vote for them are, in fact, psychotic? That they have absolutely no concept of decency or reality? Well, your suspicions have been 100% confirmed. Please consider this line of reasoning via Yahoo news for dealing with the Foley scandal. It opens a window on the conservative soul, and the view could not be uglier.
I want to stress that this is not from the Onion, it is monstrously serious:

Hewitt's Advice on Foley and Hastert
by John McIntyre

Hugh Hewitt has given the best political advice for Republicans on how to deal with the Foley scandal.

The Washington Times wants Speaker Hastert to resign. To do so would be to capitulate to Democratic-activist-induced and MSM-abetted hysteria. Not only should Hastert not resign, he should use every opportunity to swing back hard at a MSM deeply compromised by its ideological extremism and a Democratic Party committed to retreat and defeat in Iraq and fecklessness in the war generally...

Hastert did not know that Foley was a predator, only that Foley had sent a too-friendly e-mail to one teenage page, the sort of e-mail that would have been completely unremarkable if it hadn't come from a gay Congressman. To have attempted to censure Foley for that e-mail would have been to impose a rule on Congressmen concerning their contacts with minor pages and interns that has no precedent anywhere. The warning about appropriateness that Foley did receive is exactly what ought to have happened and did.

Two major newspapers have known about the e-mail for eleven months. There was no story because there was no scandal in the e-mails, only in the IMs, which shock and outrage everyone who reads them, and which have been concealed somewhere for more than three years --itself a scandal, but not one to be laid on the Speaker.

So ... I see the plan ... we might be losing our constitutional rights, but it's ok. They are all replaceable by ... (drumroll, please) the right to litigate!

Um, how about this news : Libertarian candidate Bruce Guthrie has
given his campaign for U.S. Senate $1.2 million of his own money. It looks like he will probably be included in the debate between Cantwell and McGavick on KING5.

Green Party candidate Aaron Dixon has raised more money from supporters than Guthrie, and polls higher than Guthrie. But because he's not a millionaire, that doesn't matter.

The story according the Seattle Times...

I LOVE counterpunch!
http://counterpunch.org/lindorff10042006.html

It's a sad commentary on the state of American democracy, on the instincts of the American citizenry, and on the standards and judgment of the American newsmedia that the unsavory advances of a pathetic Forida congressman can have the nation in high dudgeon, while the ramming through of a patently illegal piece of legislation undermining a crucial 13th century civil liberty (habeas corpus), and the Fourth and Eighth Amendments of the constitution, and the secret planning for an illegal and catastrophic attack on Iran, both merit almost no complaint or mention.

A crazy kills himself and Seattle's crack crackpot reporter Dawdy cranks out another cover story. It's practically enabling behavior. Anyone in Seattle that wants a long profile written about them only has to kill themselves to get it.

I'm off to the Aurora bridge.

Well TRSIF, what do you expect?

We have a Preznit who is an open liar and has been a criminally corrupt and incompetent failure at everything except getting elected and funneling all of the nation's money to the richest 1% (that's the giant sucking sound you're hearing, by the way). Yet he still polls around 40% approval!!!!

He could fuck a Campfire Girl during the State of the Union address, and the audience would still be singing his holy praises and speaking in tongues.

Meanwhile, the American public has firmly placed both hands against their ears and loudly proclaimed that, in opposition to all reason and sanity, the Republicans are the party of morality.

I don't know where all this is going to end, but I have a feeling it's with some mean Chinese men demanding we repay the trillions that they've loaned to us.

The charges against the Denver man were dismissed because, you know, they were unconstitutional and stuff. Now if he lived in Iran and had criticized Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, he'd be missing his fingernails by now.

Our democracy isn't done, at least not yet.

You know, I'm still waiting for one of these anti-Harry-Potter zealots to explain something to me. The Harry Potter books are avidly read worldwide, most especially in the UK. So why, pray tell me, if the Harry Potter books inevitably lead to school violence and shootings, why are there not dozens of cases in the UK? Gee, I dunno...maybe something to do with the availability of something to shoot with, rather than the reading of a fantasy series?

Not a word, Stranger, on North Korea's nuke test, and China giving NK the OK to do so?

I also see China is on the Please Don't NK side.

I would think that NK's testing of nukes would be a daily newsworthy issue.

This Foley media circus reeks of 'red herring'. The Feds are running interference for something, it seems.

SKGEE, please don't jump off the Aurora Bridge. People live in Fremont.

Try the I-5 bridge - it's just as tall.
