QFC deli case... a wrap sandwich

Grab a ban mi sandwich at any decent Vietnamese deli for $1.50 - $2.50.

a $2.00 lunch in Seattle? A nice dream. A liter drink and a bag of chips is about two bucks. Think $5.00 and you are still coming up about $2.00 short.

However, the teriyaki place on the corner of Pike and Second... salad, rice & chicken... $4.00 and change, add a can of coke, ---$5.25, tax included.

TimeBomb is spot on. Vietnamese sandwiches. You can also try the taco trucks 1.50 taco plus a strawberry Peñafiel for 1.00. Some trucks have 1.00 Sopes and 1.00 Horchatas. A somosa(sp?) across the street from the columbia tower with a coke. You can also get 2.00 full lunches at Columbia tower after 3:00 P.M. when the buffets sell whats left, but be careful, Council staffers who come down from the hall get all the best grub and leave us the leaves. =)

I believe the McDonald's you refer to is one block down at 3rd and Pine.

Costco-- the time honored $1.50 hot dog and pop. It's been the same price since I was ten.

Blue C sushi in fremont has $1 sushi at happy hour. A cucumber roll and a spicy tuna, and call yourself satisfied.

How about under $3? Daily special at Subway is $2.75 w/tax. New Vietnamese Restaurant (on 3rd facing the McDonalds) has bahn mi for about the same.

A hot dog stand in Westlake Park (next to See's Candies) has a $2-3 lunch special. Haven't tried it.

A bunch of stuff in the market is $3-4 (gyros, half sand at Three Girls Bakery).

Get a pellet gun and hunt squirrel

However, being a giant cheapskate myself who often works downtown, I'm liking these suggestions. Keep em coming!

I agree about the taco trucks, but does anyone know of any within walking distance of either Cap Hill or downtown? (Though downtown isn't always within walking distance of downtown.) Are there any disturbing taco internet tools?

There is one truck downtown at the Casa headqurters in Belltown, is not as good, and the meat is suspect, and I hate to say this, but if youre a white girl youre going to have to put up with some "mamacita" calls, but no biggie. One of the better trucks is close to downtown. is the one near the old chubby and tubby site. But you better hurry before Darryl(budhist) Smith runs them out of there to make way for a Budhist temple. Their sopes arent as good, but theyre cheap and good. And they have good hangover( cruda) cures: Tripe soup.

The one on Graham and Rainier is one of the better ones, is the one I go to, and the one in White Center thats around the corner from the Carniceria is really, really good. The one on MLK across from the Mc Donalds is guranteed diahreah (sp?)

There will soon be one near Jackson and Rainier.

remember the chicken san at Jack is just .99 - get two and drink free water - filling lunch, lower fat the beef burgers - with lettuce, they do extra lettuce for free as well

I knew about way down Rainier, and way out in White Center (also way up Aurora), but Jackson & Rainier? That's in my tiny little everyday orbit!

The food court at Westlake Center/Mall has cheap eats... but $2.00 is kind of pushing it. (btw, there is also another Mc-D's there as well).

You can certainly do better than this, but I think Taco Bell also has a value menu. So does KFC in the shadow of the Stranger's headquarters.

But the Taco Truck and the Vietnamese Sandwich are definitely the two best for the buck bets. I eat those even when I'm not being cheap.

If the limit is $5, then you start getting into Pho and good Burrito territory, which is all good with me (and more filling).

The Bahn Me is really the only item described so far that will actually fill me up for $2, though.

There's also a McDeath at 6th and Stewart/Virginia across from the Westin.

For $2 you can get some excellently bad fried food (corn dogs, chicken, burritos, etc) at the Qwick-E mart on Pike St btwn 1st and 2nd or Saveway on Occidental, too.

If you like humbow try the deli in the Viet Wah supermarket near 12th and Jackson. Soft steamy dough filled with boiled eggs and juicy pork - about the size of a softball for under $2.

The taco truck in White Center (Ensenada?)is fantastic!

I think it's called La Fondiata, actually (just off 15th across from New Angkor Market, right?).
