New Elway Poll Numbers on State Initiatives & The Cantwell Race

posted by on October 25 at 19:30 PM

I-933 (Rolling back land-use regulations)
I-933 is losing 42 to 38. That might sound too close for comfort, but last month it was ahead 47 to 33.

I-920 (Estate tax repeal)
Sorry to the Seattle Times and the 250 or so families with $4 million estates who would benefit, but it’s losing 50 to 32. Last month, it was losing 45-38.

Cantwell V. McGavick
Again, sorry to the Seattle Times, but Elway says: “Cantwell holds lead, McGavick shows no traction.”
After the debates and a month of TV ads, Cantwell maintains her 18 point lead.
Cantwell 52/McGavick 34. Last month, Cantwell led 53 to 35.

I haven’t seen the cross tabs and all that wonky stuff you junkies want, so that’s all I’ve got to report.
Elway didn’t have numbers on the U.S. House races.

Fuzzy,

I heard that interview yesterday! All I could think about is 'who is this ornery republican?'

Once I realized it was Karl, I got worried.

The thing the estate tax repeal people need to keep repeating is this: The funding gap created by eliminating this tax will have to be filled - and it will be filled by homeowners, renters and college students. We can't/won't just cut services.

The rich need to pay their fair share.

I trust the Elway Poll. Anyone who can consistently drive a football team 80 yards in 2 minutes is good by me. ::rimshot::

SRSLY, tho, the ad campaign against the estate tax repeal does a GREAT job of stating the exact points Catalina brings up, plus the fact it only affects 250 rich people. The No campaign has stepped up and called the Repealites on their bullshit.

Does anyone have a link to the Elway Poll handy?

Protecting property rights is just common sense.

Here are the real facts...

Man, I hate spammers. Especially for incredibly lost causes.

Isn't it about time for someone to sponsor a "property responsibilities" initiative?

There is a "property responsibility" initiative, it was called the CAO. It requires the rural KC landowner to use only 35% of their property and invokes a number of complex regulations around land use in an attempt to balance Ron Sims mandates, environmental and landowner concerns. What you get is an imperfect and costly system opaque to most city dwellers. (DDES is self funded through permit fees, so no cost to metronaturals.)

933 will make it worse, but rubbing salt in the wounds about "responsibilities" is taking a match to gasoline.
