Seneca, indeed, was WestCoastified and spent most of his day in the pocket. Also, bad form on the final play, where he dumped off to the fullback on 4th and 15. IF YOU NEED 15 YARDS, THROW DOWNFIELD.

LOL Sonics. Even if Robert Swift's leg hadn't gone kaput, they would be hard pressed to go .500 this season, let alone make the playoffs.

The Huskies are circling the drain. Carl Bonnell had one of the worst Husky QB performances I've seen this side of Casey Paus. I gave Stanback as hard a time as anyone but he was never THAT bad. And great job, defense, leaving the whole left side of the end zone wide open on that TD in OT. Clutch.

Bad last couple of weeks for Seattle sports.

We are still number one in our division. It may be the shittiest division in football and we would likely be distant third in most others, but hey number one is number one.

First, to brag again: while I did pick the Tigers to win the WS, I also predicted that whoever won the first game would win the Series, and so it came to pass.

As for playing real teams: the test for the Bears will be the three-week road trip (NY, NY, NE) after SF. If they come out of that period with only one or two losses, they should still be leading the NFC by a game or two. And it's very hard to wake you, Brad, in any case.

See you Shehawks in January at Soldier Field.

even if seneca's last throw was useless, it wasn't his loss.

that loss was squarely on the seahawks defense.

they just SUCKED. and have been sucking for weeks now.

when half your fucking offense is injured (or out for beating up girls) it's your job, defense, to step it up a few notches to keep games close. you can't expect seneca wallace and mo morris to score 40-points a game for you.

but seneca and the receiving corps did their part, putting up decent numbers and keeping the game within reach.

and the D just sits there.

defense, a hint: tackle the guys with the red shirts. all the way to the ground.

i can't believe oakland might actually cause worry at this point. they did just beat the steelers, something we couldn't do.

Holmgreen made the call on 4th and 15. He was trying to surprise the KC D with that crap, it might have worked if you did it with some one else other than the full back. Dumb play to call.

This game was lost by the D. Wallace did his job.

Wallace was 15 of 30 (only 50% completion rate; you want to see 60%) with 2 INTs. He only had 4 rushes. The guy is a great scrambler and Holmgren should've put that to better use. Instead, he kept Seneca in the pocket and the defense knocked down several of the 5'10" QB's passes.

They got 28 points, but they could've gotten more with the way that KC D was playing.

Also, that Seattle defense had a lot of injuries, and even benched one of their safeties for poor play.

Mike Holmgren named Deion Branch "Defensive Player of the Game".

wallace also threw for three TDs.
again, i'm not saying he is starter-caliber, but that he did what back-ups are supposed to do: "just don't cause a loss." play safe, move the ball, and let the regular starters step up.

he did just fine. the receivers did just fine. even the O-line did a little better this week (i'm for sims staying in over spencer).

but the defense blew it. they did not have 'a lot' of injuries. two guys out--tubbs and lewis. boulware being benched was supposed to put the D on notice: any one of you could be sitting. ironically, boulware was benched for being too aggressive on the run (thus allowing long passes). looks liked they could have used that against LJ.

i wasn't expecting a win this week. KC is tough at home and can produce some solid offensive numbers (see SD game).

but seneca showed some promise and did his part. the only other guys that looked like they had any life in them were the new guys: branch on O (and the best defensive play of the day) and peterson on D.

woof. this is too much to post on the slog site about sports.

i'd better get to work on my 'sexy mike holmgren' costume. it's gonna be tough to pull off.

Yeah, there's little that's sexy about a walrus.

Not much to add on the Hawks. I did like how Seneca looked. It is obvious that some 'fine tuning' has to be done on the D. They started out well this year, but they have melted away.

The D that's scaring me right now is the Raiders'. Two great games out of them. They crushed against the Steelers yesterday. They did for Walter/Fargas what the Seattle D couldn't do for Wallace/Morris.

A friend of mine compared the Deion Branch strip of the ball on the turnover to KC to the hit Ben Watson put on Champ Bailey last year in the AFC playoff game. Remember that? You always love to see a guy who's zoned in on the game no matter what the situation. Branch's strip yesterday was his biggest play of the season so far. Awesome. It gave the Hawks one more chance to tie the game.

Ben Watson: Take your bow again.

Damn right Lloyd, damn right. And hell by the time the playoffs come around all of our star players will be well rested and ready to kick ass.
