This is somewhat sad that kindergarten rules need to be spelled out for 20 year olds. I guess necessary though.
In a way, faculty should show just as much respect. When you're approaching middle age I get the feeling that some of the respect I showed my elders could have been reciprocated better.

dude faculty memebers have a really hard time being civil to other faculty and staff, let alone treating "20 year olds" with respect.

in truth, i think that faculty members revert to an infantile state when they receive tenure. psychology post-grads, please, consider this for your dissertations.

Incidents of students stalking and harrassing faculty are on the rise at most campuses...too many students vying for popular classes lose perspective and cross the line between persistence and aggression. It's something that I discuss with my undergrads at the get-go.

Charles, some departments are dysfunctional and have faculty who neglect both basic courtesy and their obligations to students, but they are, by far, the minority. Universities couldn't function if your assessment were true.

Dan, Kent State was never a hotbed of student unrest. Not even in May 1970.
