I guess you were just at the wrong parties. I saw a ton of great ones, including a sexy pork chop and a giant squid. I think in general Seattleites are really good at coming up with great costumes (compared to Boston, anyway, which is the only other city with which I have much experience).

Agreed. I was at an epic party this weekend with over 200 others and EVERYONE was dressed up.

my DIY robot costume was teh cool. but you can't really write a post saying people around here don't know how to *do* halloween while not telling us what you dressed up as (or upload a picture showing us all how it's done).

just sayin'.

You'd be REALLY disappointed in other cities then, save for the major metropoli (SF, NYC). Few people dress up in other cities. I was actually surprised at the number of people I saw dressed up this weekend.

Also, it was the weekend of Halloween, not the actual holiday itself. That may have deterred potential dressers-up who aren't used to this observance-weekend crap.

I think there are plenty of great costumes around, you just have to go to the right parties with the right geeky crowds.

i was in atlanta this weekend, and i was very impressed. the best was michael jackson from Thriller, including about 15 zombies. they paid attention to detail like woah.

Levislade and GFISH,

You're probably right... I live in Pioneer Square, the epicenter of the dispiriting sexy sexy costume crowd.

I can never come up with anything interesting. I'm kinda retarded creatively.

I was at a party Sat with a guy as Kim Jong Il. Not bad...

Sarah went as Mark Foley's page. It was a killer costume.

Homeschool Mom = Teh genius

I once read about someone who went as Passed-Out Guy At A Party, and walked around with a Sharpie and had people draw penii, moustaches, "I'm A Pussy", etc. on his body.

I went as a Christmas tree, complete with gold garland, shiny red ornaments AND battery-powered lights. The damn thing was made out of chicken wire, green fabric and that fake-evergreen garland and it was pretty hard to maneuver once I got my drink on (and had to come off when I had to pee...no fun!).

It was quite the hit though and now I'll leave it in the corner of my apartment for a couple months and not have to worry about xmas decorations...

my fiance went as juan, the guy with the sign and the agenda on 6th and pine who preaches his message to anyone who listens. it was brilliant and really well received.
