I'm a Cincinnati boy, so it hurts (division rivals and all), but congrats.

Yah Cards! I'm from Seattle but going to College in St. Louis0 I wish the Mariners had made it this far but it's fun to be in a city that has finally won the world series!

They shocked the world, one game at a time.

Thanks, Slog! I'm loving it. And thank you, Tigers' pitching staff...

Jesus was with the Cardinals because that pitcher did that commercial about cloning.

A good WS should go AT LEAST 6 games, so I'm a little let down by this one (as well as the previous 2 WS's). But never have I seen an series outcome hinge not so much on dominating pitching or timely hitting as it did on miscues. The difference in this series was defense. The Cards had it, and the Tigers didn't.

The look on Craig Monroe's face in his last at bat said it all: We are gonna fucking lose...

Scott Spiezio must die.

Don't hate on Spiezio, Fnarf. Just cause he didn't do anything while with the Ms doesn't mean he has to die.

Also, "otherwise as always the tigers had good D". Uh, you can't evaluate defense if you don't consider errors. They are by definition a measure of defense. The Tigers D is usually good, but they fell apart in The Series.

Finally, what are the chances Inge is somewhere lookinging for a sturdy beam to hang himself from?

Errors hardly mean anything in evaluating defense. Bad fielders don't even get close enough to balls to make an error on them.

Spiezio doesn't need to die because he sucked with the M's. He needs to die because of (a) his chin hairs and especially (b) this tattoo:

Tats of chicks with gigantic knockers don't turn you on?

As a Mariner fan, I can attest that the reason we hate Spiezio so much was that he got paid $3 million a year to hit like .209 in 2004 and shit the bed in the form of 3 for 47 in 2005... then signed with St Louis and suddenly he's good again. You'd feel cheated, baited and switched too if, say, he signed a $6 million contract, did the same for your Cards, then signed with the Yankees or somebody and turned it back on.

sorry gomez. That's the way the ball bounces (off Shawn Green's face).

Yay for the end of the post-season! Now that the most boring sport in the world is over, TV will be much better.

True. Vikings / Patriots on MNF.

And the thing, as well, about Spezio is that it's impossible to get away from the red patch, which makes him look like a young Papa Smurf.

I would, though, love to see the live version of the very womanly tattoo. Go out, get some rice pudding with cinnamon, and some coffees, you know, something like that. Be a blast.

and while i was wrong that the tigers would win, i did predict that whoever won the first game would win the series.

and whoever wrote that errors mean nothing in evaluating defense is an idiot. fielding percentage means nothing in evaluating defense (because the players with no range get to fewer balls and so, perhaps, make fewer errors than better defenders who get to more balls and so have more chances to make errors). But NOT MAKING ERRORS IF THE FUCKING MOST IMPORTANT THING ABOUT DEFENSE.

Rant over. How 'bout them Bears?

Last word from The Lou...I went to the victory parade yesterday and it was beautiful. Maybe your Ms will someday bring home a WS Title...
