Hannes Alfvén=the key to Lost? A few hours before the season premier of Lost this week, my boyfriend began theorizing that the island and the Dharma Initiative were actually secure incubators for regenerating the human race after a nuclear war or some sort of cataclysmic disaster. This immediately made sense to me--much more than any of the other theories I've heard posited. Apparently he's not the only one to stumble upon this train of thought. Here's a link to an analysis by someone who's done an impressive amount of research on the theory, complete with historical reference points. Does...

Does anyone have a theory on the awful LOST title graphic?

I will watch the series with fascination until the end, but that diagonally looming monstrosity is always going to bother me.

Comment by Episodic Television Knows Nothing Of Resolution

Are any of you Lost dorks familiar with The Prisoner?

If you're expecting this story to go anywhere I pity you and your wasted hours.

Your time would be better spent reading Finnegan's Wake from the middle outward in both directions.

Don't be hatin on tha Prisona!!! I bet you didn't like Waking Life, either. Seriously, I'd like to think Damon & Carlton learned something from The X-Files and Twin Peaks...can't blow your wad too soon, can't let the network milk you forever.

Be seeing you.

I have really enjoyed Lost but wish it had ended at the end of last season. Based on this seasons premier, they coasting... downhill.

And yeah, it reminds me a bit of the Prisoner of course (which was great), but the first season was probably more The Tempest than anything.

If I may, I'd like to quote the lyrics to the theme song of Mystery Science Theatre 3000 (at least during the Joel and early Mike years.)

If you're wondering how he eats and breathes
and other science facts...la la la...
Then repeat to yourself, "It's just a show,
I should really just relax..."

Good advice for Lost fans, methinks...

Close.

You should read up on the Lost Experience game that was running over the summer. One of the themes was an equation that predicted the end of humanity. The numbers are constants in that equation.

Apparently, the purpose of the Dharma initiative was change one of those constants and thus stave off the end of the world.
