while the idea that these guys were "pre madonnas" is hilarious, the word is prima-donna.

No wonder my spell chek could never get a handle on that term whenever I wrote it...

Thanks. I fixed it.
Or at least a ghostly editor in the machine did...

That song always makes me cry, too. I think it's one of the best songs ever recorded. My vote is Andy Bell (from Erasure) and Neil Tennant (Pet Shop Boys) Yes, I'm completely stuck in the 80s, but they each have great voices.

Or how about Bjork and Sting? Morrissey and Seal?

Stephanie Roberts and her sister did a wonderful version of this song on ukelele once-upon-a-time at New City Theatre Late Night Cabaret. Back in the day...

A great cover's been done by the Blood Brothers--since they have two great screamers on board already, they didn't need a duet partner.

I use to beat up this dude in Jr.High who cried during Strawberry Letter 23. He found me on classmates.com and sent me a horrible email, explaining how I had messed up his Jr. High experience. I hate classmates dot com.

Robert Smith v. Morrissey, obviously. Morrissey: Bowie, Robert: Freddy. You'll recall that that was MY idea in the first place!!!

DAVID BOWIE & Trent Reznor, they already dueted, and Bowie's voice still kills. Nobody can pull off the operatic scatting though, they'd have to make up new words.

Elliot Smith is dead. Christina Aguilera vs. Mariah Carey. Jesus, it'll be 45 minutes long.

The Blood Brothers already did so on that Queen tribute on GSL, or is it Three.One.G?

is it normal? of course it's normal. it's a great fucking song. art is supposed to be evocative. the fact that you cry when you hear it RULES.

Josh - It should be covered by Rob Halford and Sufjan Stevens. Clearly.

That part makes me emotional too.

The song is the reason the trailer for "Adaptation" was better than the movie. The movie didn't use the song.

Doug Martsch and Neil Young!

Billy Bragg and Jon Langford!

You and me, Josh, at my farewell party Sunday. The Blood Brothers version, though, is mindblowing. Glad to hear it's available on record.
