Is this the new Mayor of Gayla... »

He can't get a NICKEL of support ::RIMSHOT::
Thank Jebus its not an election year, lest he be tempted to bomb Shoreline as his October Surprise.
Munchkins love it when the Wizard gets indigestion.
Nickels' approval is really that low? I guess I really don't have much of an opinion of him either way. He's no Charlie Royer or Norm Rice, let alone a Bertha Knight Landes.
Bertha Knight Landes! He's no Wes Uhlman, either. Heck, he's not even a Paul Schell, who actually pretty good, just very, very unlucky.
Oh, keep wishing. You all had a shot LAST YEAR and he got 60%!!! Wake up, he is really liked, unlike your NIMBY self centered beliefs..
Maybe he's more of a Frank E. Edwards....
"Oh, keep wishing. You all had a shot LAST YEAR and he got 60%!!.."
Yes, and his challenger got about 40% of the vote?? Perhaps you want to address the merits of Al Runte and describe how he warrented the vote total he recieved. Frankly, if I was Nickels, I would have been rather embarassed. He (Nickels) may want to run for public office again in the future, but he should realize he likely won't win any election outside King County.
Try a poll which matches him up versus city council members. This is virtually meaningless.
Wait, what did King George do recently to get his approval rating back up that high?
Fine Tooth -- Licata got many more votes than Nickels did in the last election, and Nickels was running against a certifiable crank with virtually no funding. I'd love to see a match up of either Licata or Steinbreuck...I'm betting they'd mop the floor with him.
While I'm hardly a Nickels supporter, it'd only be fair to use the same poll scope for both. I can't imagine the Bush support in King County is as high as 25%.
Yeah, citing Nickels' 60% vote last year, when his opponent was a total loser, is kinda fallacious, and ironically, illustrates how little he is liked: against a total loser, if he was legit to voters he'd get at least 75-80%.
And people questioned Meinert's poll?
Erica, when are you going to wake up to the fact that this kind of amateurish crap makes you (and the stranger) look like a joke.
Any moron who can fog a mirror realizes that there are dozens of REAL ISSUES on which to attack (or attempt to persuade) King Nickels - yet you resort to this tripe.
It's so sad to have watched you piss away the political legitimacy and credibility of a newspaper that really could have made a difference in promoting a progressive, urban agenda. Shame on you - and shame on all of us for not holding you to higher standards.
Keck, this is type of garbage that belongs in the Lynnwood High School Paper and does more harm than good when it appears in the stranger. Do yourself and all of your readers a favor and hire a real political reporter.
Oh Fuck Off WU! The Stranger is the only Newspaper to call Jamieson on his stupid sobriety, and The Stranger supported the monorail.
I doubt if the Lynnwood High School paper said anything about how stupid it is for Jamieson to quit drinking.
Also Dan Savage has written anti-cigarette columns for years. The Stranger is the only anti-sobriety anti-cigarette newspaper in Seattle. That's why I love it. So go back to sleep WU!
Okay--he's a bit like Bertha Knight Landes. Both brought Prohibition to Seattle and tried to kill all nightlife.
And both look terrible in a dress.
This is a KING 5 poll. It's not something the Stranger made up.
Have to say that it sucks that B is doing more of the reporting than the supposed "reporter".
Napoleon, That's not fair! Nickels looks great in an Empire waist, especially if it's floor length (his legs are not his best feature)
Add a wig with a big curl set, and you have quite a respectable dowager, which goes perfectly with his Sophie Tucker review.
Try not to be so ageist and dragphobic.
This is a King 5 poll. It was a poll of 513 registered voters with a margin of error +/- 4.4%
It shows that Nickels ratings via this poll are:
Not sure 1%
It's all on there on the sheet that you see in the photo, it's just hard to read.
Holy gray areas, Batman!
So, when Darcy Burner polls genuinely favorably at 30%, the gray area is factored into her support... but when Nickels polls at 25% genuine favorability, any gray area is completely ignored. LOL lies damned lies and statistics.
Not necessarily. The "gray areas" you refer to are usually like this:
XX% somewhat favorable
XX% very favorable
These two favorable figures are often combined to create an overall favorable percentage. Since both have the word "favorable" in them, it's fair to combine them, despite one being more favorable than the other.
In this case, those two kinds of favorables didn't exist and instead the option of "neutral" was given. It would not be accurate to combine the two to create an overall favorable rating. "Neutral" does not mean favorable or unfavorable. It means neutral and thus cannot be combined if the poll is to be useful. So in this poll, the only fair "favorable" reading is that 25%.
Other polls of course may have different results, but we're just looking at this one for now.
I would say I'm "neutral" on Nickels right now. But against any of the clowns on the city council? I don't know. Steinbrueck or Licata as mayor? Jesus Christ... don't scare me like that...
I can think of a few good things Nickels has done. Mostly I think of the council as a bunch of people who prevent things from happening, and whine about the mayor all the time.
It's actually rather stunning the lack of initiative they have. They complain, but have any of them ran against him? Have they recruited candidates to run against him? For that matter, have they ever decided on their own they want to raise taxes to pay for something, before Nickels can grab the money? He always seems to be trying to raise taxes for something. Maybe he's only better at grabbing the credit, but that just proves my point.
My opinion of Nickels has gone rather far south since a) his obsession with the tunnel has grown beyond belief and b) he jacked the monorail without first demanding any accountability from the Seattle Monorail Project (which just took the pork, ate it up and kept going back for more, without producing shit). I mean, Joel Horn and his cronies should be in jail for how much money they stole from the city.
ionolsen16 I just don not have anything to say right now.www_4_2
