can't imagine why he'd allow a Harvard degree and staff reporting at Fortune to crowd an internship and time as a personal assistant off of his press release resume.

mark fefer is a good, smart guy. it will be interesting to see what he is able to do with the debacle that is seattle weekly. i hope he is able to turn it around. seattle has room for two strong weekly newspapers.

If Mark can crack that whip and get some good, open minded writers on staff, he could rebuild that paper into something useful despite NT/VV's homogenization efforts.

Hate to break it to you Gomez, but no one is going to be hired to be chief editor of a New Times paper that's going to build the paper into something DESPITE New Times homogenization. Expect more of it. Expect more imported columns, good or bad. Expect more banal, lifeless writing that's just garnish for more ad space. Expect nothing challenging at all.

You guys really don't know how bad it's going to get. You're going to be crying for Chuck and Skip to come back -- which is a painful thought in of itself. I wish I was kidding.

Although Mark Fluffer is a really hot name for an editor.

I've said it before, but the grand irony is that The Stranger's alleged chickenshit-ness regarding not wanting to get too vocal about former Stranger staff working there is only going to improve The Stranger as it has been very recently.

Fascinating how clearly upset you are by the more rapid advancement of a former underling as he matches your professional status.

It's telling how you worked yourself into both posts within the first two sentences (especially in the original in which you essentially made yourself the main subject of someone else's job announcement).
