Newsweek’s Split Personality

Posted by on September 25 at 12:30 PM

For us: “Annie Leibowitz’s Amazing Life in Pictures,” a profile of the photographer and her “unforgettable celebrity shots.”

For everybody else: “Afghanistan: Is Victory Turning to Defeat?”, a piece about the resurgence of al Qaeda and the Taliban in Afghanistan.

Ha! Just another example of the Liberal Media's smear campaign to... uh... what's the talking point on this one again? Line...?

Same things happen with TV stations. The media consciously dumbs down and depoliticizes news in the US, based on the assumption that intelligent or in depth journalism won't sell in this country. CNN Europe has more in common with BBC World News than it does with CNN USA.

I'm sorry, it's been five years of failure - which lie are we hearing today from the Red House?

Funny you blog this, I had noticed the same thing earlier today when I read the Afghanistan article. Either it's dumbed down for the US, so everyone can think it's all hunky-dory in "Jihadistan", or the rest of the world *really* needs to lighten up. Come on people, think DEMI, not IED!!

It's because world politics doesn't move copy in the US as much as some story about some celebrity. People here won't notice the States' place in World Politics until it's time for the country en masse to pay the piper.
