Karl Rove’s Stepfather was Gay

Posted by on September 3 at 9:03 AM

According to this new book. Why am I not surprised?

In Chapter 9, “A Few Simple Questions: What’s in Karl’s Closet?,” the authors draw on interviews with gay acquaintances of Rove’s stepfather, Louis Rove, as well as an interview with a circumspect Karl Rove, to reveal that Louis was openly gay after getting divorced from Rove’s mother. The chapter jabs hard at Rove, pointing out that Louis Rove, who was clearly Rove’s primary father figure, died in Palm Springs just as “his son was in the midst of launching the antigay issues campaign that was to lead to the re-election of George W. Bush.”

and your point is......

jimmy, the point was that the republicans, rove being their political strategist, have tried to promote their bigotry against gay and lesbian people since the got a majority in congress in the 90's (well before that too but thats another story..). it just goes to show what hippocrites they are, trying to amend the constitution to make it illegal for gays to marry, while having gay daughters (cheney) or a gay father (like rove). they truly have no heart and care only about money and power

Part of the BUSH swagger comes from lots of reaming during the cokie-drunk days ..... been there. During binges of that type it all feels so good...... he was nice looking as well and had plenty of family cash to spread around.

Lefty: You keep on using the word "hippoctite". I do not think it means what you think it means. Being a hippocrite means acting in opposition to your stated beliefs, not acting in opposition to your percieved interests or loyalties.

Suppose I say "gay people shouldn't be married". It doesn't make me a hippocrite if my father or daughter is gay. Hell, it doesn't make me a hippocrite even if I'm gay! I'm only a hippocrite if I am saying that and then marrying gay people.

If I say "smoking shouldn't be allowed in public places" even though I'm a smoker, I'm not a hippocrite. I'm just maddingly principled.

If I say "everyone should conserve energy and lower their CO2 emissions" even though I don't, then I'm a hippocrite.

HYPOCRITE. Somebody get me a doctor. My eyes are bleeding.

While I generally do think that people misuse the word "hypocrite" (when they ought to just say "bigot") as well as misspell it, I don't think it's misused by Lefty (although it *is* misspelt).

hyp-o-crite:

1. a person who pretends to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs, principles, etc., that he or she does not actually possess, esp. a person whose actions belie stated beliefs.
2. a person who feigns some desirable or publicly approved attitude, esp. one whose private life, opinions, or statements belie his or her public statements.
----------------------

A much younger G.W.Bush has been recorded as saying were he elected to office he wouldn't persecute homosexuals because "they are sinners just like me".

Condoleezza Rice had an extremely testing situation as provost of Stanford during a less tolerant time in which she gave a very affirming decision to allow a transgendered male-to-female staff member continue to teach at the school as well as making a personal connection and telling he/she what a beautiful woman he/she was turning out to be.

Dick Cheney has a lesbian daughter (as if you somehow didn't know this) and considers gay rights and gay marriage to be a states issue rather than a federal issue but publicly claims that he defers to the president's decision to go for a constitutional amendment even though it's not his preference.

And now, Karl Rove.

Yet this administration has happily feigned their support of denying every imaginable basic civil right to homosexuals (adoption, marriage, end of life decisions, property transfer, etc etc) to drum up support from the most radical of religious right conservatives.

For those of us calling out the administration on their hypocrisy this is just another chapter.

Yes, it's weird to call an entire administration "closet tolerants" but from their differing private and personal views, that is what they are, in effect.

While it is true that both Bush and Cheney are gay, I don't for a second believe that Karl Rove is.

Sorry.

He's just a closeted-gay-friendly geek hetero. everyone knows that.
