Re: the Bush quote...They should never let him speak unless he is reading off a telepromter. If they're not careful, he'll blow their cover.

I am so embarrassed that this is our "president."

How did The Stranger endorsement of Stephanie Pure not make the morning news?

I totally agree with Mike in MO above.

I'm not sure I get the Bush thing. The only quote there seems to be "no ma'am, not again," which doesn't seem to be a big deal to me.

Levi: the key is *again*, implying he has previoulsy turned his back on NO & the Gulf. He acknowledged what everyone has been screaming about the gov't response.

Yeah, I suppose . . . but "comments" made it seem like it would be something more substantial. Like Seattle98104's link. What a dingus!

What's this strange feeling I have in response to the news from California? Could it be...hope for the future?

My question is why hasn't the Stranger questioned our Governor and House/Senate leaders on when they'll be joining with Cali on this new program?

Remember, Cali is 25 percent of the national market. Add the 10 Western states and you've got 40 percent of the market, and the market has no choice but to react to your economic signals.

It's a good idea, but remember, there is no true market. The Bush administration and the business community will be only too happy to drive business investment away from California, Washington, and Oregon (the other western states aren't interested) into the low-wage, red-voting South and rural west (Utah, Nevada, Idaho). Net gain for greenhouse emissions nationwide: not too damn much (though if new plants are built, they'll be more efficient and less polluting than old ones).

This absolutely needs to be addressed at the national level. That's what the national level is FOR. Sadly, the national level is controlled by....

FNARF, the reality is that WE ARE the market. Just think of recycled paper, organic food, things like that.

It's supply siders that hate capitalism that fear the market. The market has no love for right or left - it just is.

Give it the correct inputs and it functions correctly. Distort it as Red Bushies do and it sputters and dies.
