Mariners to trade Ichiro?!? Seattlest is all over it…

UPDATE: Well, it ain’t so—which I would’ve known if I had read the whole post, but it was about sports and I couldn’t really be bothered to read the whole thing. You know, since I’m gay and all.

I don't know, the trade deadline came and went.

Exactly - Seattlest is a day late and a dollar short.

According to the Seattle Times yesterday I think it was those two teams wanted Ichiro to make the trades - and were of course refused.

Ichiro is apparently great friends with the Japanese part owner of the Mariners.

I'm sure every team with half a bankroll inquired about Ichiro, but he's pretty much untouchable. A team would have to offer up a huge return before the mariner's would even consider it.

Calm down Dan. Ichi ain't going anywhere anytime soon.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

Dang. He's half of why I even GO to Mariner's Games.

I heard the Ichiro wants to leave the Mariners. He knows he's a good player, and he's tired of wasting that on .500 Mariner seasons.

Dan you almost gave me a heart attack. It would be a sad, sad day for those of us who love the sport if Ichiro left. Let's hope it's no time soon.

Seattlest is ALWAYS late on these things.

In fact, the only way the M's could POSSIBLY trade Ichiro is to get personal permission from head owner Hiroshi Yamauchi. And you think Mr. Yamauchi's gonna trade his favorite Mariner?

Whew. Good thing it wasn't true. Now my Ichiro Game Day bobblehead can wisely agree that the Mariners rule and the Sonics drool.

Love you Dan! The only sports news I read is whatever you put up on the Slog!

Uh, Ken Griffey Jr (although in retrospect, that was a good one); Alex Rodriguez; The Big Unit...Ichiro isn't untouchable. The only thing that saved him was that no one wanted to trade enough for him.

Read my comment again, Mike. The guys you mentioned aren't a Japanese icon nor are any of them a pet player of the owner.

Ichiro is a strong exception to the rule.

Also, A-Rod wasn't traded. He signed that crazy $252 million contract that Texas offered him as a free agent. Also, though he was traded, when Junior became a free agent, he turned down a huge contract offer from the M's to sign with Cincinnati for less.

As Israel kills islamo-terrorists for us, there's nothing better than All American Baseball to show those terrorists we will not change our American way of life one bit. I love our two sports stadiums and have company seats through work. Sitting there watching a game, relaxing as bombs kill Lebanese terrorists and their children, I know America is great.
