Paramount Gives Tom Cruise the Boot

Posted by on August 23 at 11:51 AM

Tom Cruise’s big blabby mouth and psychotic Scientological proselityzing have finally led to a concrete punishment: Paramount Pictures has announced the cessation of its 14-year relationship with Cruise’s film production company due to Cruise’s “unaccetable” offscreen behavior.

“As much as we like him personally, we thought it was wrong to renew his deal,” said Viacom chairman Sumner Redstone in The Wall Street Journal. “His recent conduct has not been acceptable to Paramount.”

Full Cruise-dumping story here.

To add insult to injury, Paramount also announced its signing of a two-picture deal with professional Cruise-bashers Matt Stone and Trey Parker, who’ll create two live-action features for the studio.

Meanwhile, LA Weekly’s Nikki Finke asks, “Who’s crazier—Tom Cruise or [Paramount-owning] Viacom?”

Now...if we could get you and every other blog in the world to STOP talking about him, we'd really make some progress.

STOP! Enough Tom-all-the-time coverage.

Sorry, but this is huge. He's the biggest star in Hollywood history and he's strategically dismantled his career. Gong crazy is by far the most interesting thing Tom Cruise has ever done.

Is he really the biggest star in Hollywood history???

What does insult to injury mean? Did Tom get hurt doing that motorcycle slide in MI:3?

He's the next Michael Jackson, I swear.

Tom Cruise couldn't hold Cary Grant's sock garters.

Kinda funny to hear Nikki Finke judging who's crazy or not:

I have been watching with facination the self-destruction of Tom Cruise. I think he has the napoleon complex which is common in short men. His choice of tall women to mate with is an indication that he is loathful of his height and wants to have taller children. I carefully replayed and watched the interview he had with Matt Lauer and I saw a lot of anger in Tom. He has some demons that probably go back to his own childhood. He may have been a kid that was prescribed medication and he resents it deeply. As for picking Katie for a wife, she is too young to be a good mental companion and there would have been plenty of older women he could have wooed prior to his recent change in reputation. I also want to say that John TRavolta is a little obsessive on his flying. He has two 707 jets and wears a Captain’s uniform including shoulder stripes when he flies. Aren’t those stripes supposed to be earned as a legitimate Captain? I see him as a Captain wanabee. Just my candid observations of two Scientologists but what do I know.
