Hot Incest Porn!

Apparently, that’s how a number of outraged mothers perceive the above cover of Babytalk. As the Associated Press reports, the “wholesome parenting magazine” was denounced by a significant percentage of its readership for its choice of such a “gross” and “shocking” cover.

“I shredded it,” said Gayle Ash, of Belton, Texas. “I don’t want my son or husband to accidentally see a breast they didn’t want to see.”

This creepy line of reasoning is continued by another concerned mom:

“Men are very visual,” says Kelly Wheatley, of Amarillo, Texas. “When they see a woman’s breast, they see a breast — regardless of what it’s being used for.”

I’m not sure if these women believe that men need protection from the sight of boobs, or that women need protection from men inflamed by the sight of boobs, but either way, it’s ridiculous.

“I don’t want my son or husband to accidentally see a breast they didn’t want to see.â€

What are the chances?

I have only one thing to say to those disturbed by the sight of a mammary gland being used for its intended purpose:

Grow.The.Fuck.Up.

A classic "too sad to be funny" situation.

but you have to admit the baby looks a little aroused

Creepy indeed.

To Ms. Kelly Wheatley: If I see a breast, duh, of course I see a breast. But it's a nursin' breast, not a sexin' breast; sexin' doesn't even cross the mind.

And sadly, Wheatley is one of the women in favor of the cover.

The fact that there are 2 seperate incidents in the article where women said "gross" in reference to the sight of another woman breastfeeding is ... I dunno ... digusting, disturbing, infuriating. That women can find a normal female body to be gross is just plain wrong. No wonder there's so much sexual dysfunction among women.

maybe these moms are closet pedophiles or maybe their husbands, and this outcry is a result of trying too hard to mask heir pedophilia.

Really, what person, besides a pedophile sees that cover and thinks ooooh that's hot?

These moms detesting the cover need a visit from child protective services.

"And yet Wheatley, 40, who's still nursing her 3-year-old daughter..."

Is three a little old to still be nursing? I don't have children, so I was just wondering.

There's a lot of fucked up women out there. Bitchy women haters. I don't know if it's because of their mothers or what, but they are really annoying.

its a marketing ploy to get all those unemployed men, whose wives are at work earning money to support them, to buy more copies of baby talk... they must have read that recent article in the NYT, too.

What is wrong with people? IMO, it's a very pretty cover. The controversy and stigma comes from puritanical over-reaction that assumes sexualization of body parts. Like dressing baby-girls in bikini tops. Only a sick person would be titillated at the sight of a "topless" baby.

Oh my god. I never fail to be astonished by the idiocy of the American public. I wish I could stop being so shocked by stupid stupid people - but every damn time I am taken aback anew.

Some facts: The American Association of Pediatrics (not a particularly crazy nest of liberals) now advise breast-feeding for as long as possible, at least until the age of 2. Now I of course never knew this until I actually began breastfeeding - who would? So this is just info for those who don't know. It's relatively common to breastfeed kids until they're 2, more rare but still fine to go longer, until 3 or more.

Breastfeeding a baby is one of the best things you can do for another little human being. It's perfect food. It lowers a baby's blood pressure. It de-stresses both mother and child. It is ONLY GOOD.

How can this picture be offensive when our newspapers are chock full of pictures of dead and bleeding and wounded children in warzones? Killed with the support of the U.S. government? God, I hate America sometimes.

It's kind of hilarious that the cover story (that I imagine goes along with the picture) is "Why Women Don't Nurse Longer." The reaction of so many women makes actually reading the article superflous: it's obvious why women don't breastfeed longer. Apparently it's "gross."

As RELIGION SUCKS can be expected to chime in on every thread with the same repetitive sentiment, I thought it would help to simply get it out of the way up front for every thread.

"Religion sucks. Religious people suck. Wipe your ass with the Torah and piss on Christ. Religion is a farce."

There you have it. Isn't he a witty and insightful 13-year-old? What a bright boy!

Legend has it that Michael Jordan nursed until he was 5. He seems to have done alright. I know other children who have nursed that long, all apparently healthy and well-adjusted. Most primates nurse until their adult teeth come in, and 5 is quite common in many cultures.

The default nursing age-limit for our species is evidently "whenever the child outgrows it". The imposed age-limit in this culture is "when other people think it's gross." Such is our disgust regarding our own biology.

Not only is nursing the right thing to do on the front end, it makes diaper changing time MUCH less icky on the backend.

I nursed all my kids and all of them are healthy as horses.

Whoa, you cannot have a better example of the benfits of breast feeding than Michael Jordan! That dude had mad skillz.

I was adopted and hence, probably never breast fed, and lo and behold i am short, weak, rickety bones, bad eyes, crappy joints, balding and my jump shot couldn't hit water from a boat. Is it too late for me to start breast feeding?

But seriously, i can't believe these women toook a timeout from hunting witches to complain about that cover. Isn't breast feeding critical to kids building their immune system? Oh wait, that's science, they probably don't believe in that.

I'm with Maria. I wish I could build up an immunity to the shock of how stupid and sex-phobic people are. IT IS A TIT!! What is there to be afraid of? (shaking my head)

Oh, and Longball: nice comment about taking time out from hunting witches...

WAIT A MINUTE!

That's a picture of a BABY and a BREAST?

Damn, for a second there I thought somebody had finally caught Karl Rove kissing Bush's ass.

Okay, I'm a freak, but that picture is hot!

well of course it's hot, what's not to like? isn't that what those things are for in the first place?

I LOVE titties! oh no, it's started! they shouldn't have shown me a boob. now I've sinned.

and you shouldn't nurse a child until five, or ever, because every egg that passes while you 'nurse' without being made into a REAL BABY is an abortion! and abortion is murder. if you murder the unborn you will burn in hell.

I breast fed until I was 37. I don't know what the big deal is.

Will!!!! Dammit, you're giving away the game!

You're supposed to be all calm and say, "eh, it's just a breast with a baby, not sexual at all." Cpme on, get with the program here, on behalf of all the nursing moms, ok?

(My impression is, a beautiful but non-sexual breast feeding a baby. That woman should get an award, and so should BabyTalk.)

Ha! Man I am TOTALLY starting a band called "Topless Baby". You're right, what a totally absurd idea.

Big Tits Give Me Fits! Momma!
