Where have all the flowers gone? This little piece of boy or girl art is what remains of a once thriving shrine for Officer Joselito Barber, who was buried yesterday. I somehow felt cheated by the evident cleanup, which happened between today and Sunday. The way the shrine came to be, should've been the way it came not to be: extemporaneously....

Another dreamy and poetic post. Who else would have thought about the flowers lingering on the memorial? Thanks for making my day!

Comment by Over My Head

There's no getting around how callous this question is but I'm genuinely baffled. Am I missing something about this guys death?

Stopping traffic? Huge procession with people coming from miles around. Gigantic outpouring of sympathy at the memorial.

In all of the tragedies and misfortunes that strike people every day in the city, I've not seen anything so demonstrative and well, I'm puzzled because I'm not anymore moved by it than by the Cap Hill massacre, the shooting at the Jewish Federation or the murder of the cab driver a couple years back or anything else in recent memory. Hones question, can someone tell me what makes this tragedy unique and what it is that gives it so much gravity with the public?

Where have all the flowers gone, long time passing?
Where have all the flowers gone, long time ago?
Where have all the flowers gone?
Young girls have picked them everyone.

But, true, while composing the post, Daddy G's version came to my mind.
