Chihuly Settles

Posted by on August 4 at 12:19 PM

Props to Regina Hackett: she reported this morning in the P-I that Dale Chihuly has settled his suit against Bryan Rubino, the glassblower who worked for Chihuly and whom Chihuly accused of making knockoffs.

“I guess the most important thing I realized is something I probably knew all along. At least among artists, it is best to resolve our differences one on one. I am pleased that Mr. Rubino and I were able to do that,” the P-I reports that Chihuly stated in a release sent Thursday night (now how did I get left off of that press list?).

Hackett raises another spectre for Chihuly that could result in a lawsuit from a disgruntled dealer, Doyle LaCount, the man who ran www.chihulyscrewedme.com (which was shut down recently): whether Chihuly’s publishing company or galleries misrepresent his contributions to his prints (he doesn’t directly paint on them).

Thoughts?

Look in the Seattle Tiems on Monday for the big Dale investigation by their critic and an i reporter

"i reporter"?

I reported on the Seattle Art Blog early this morning that there is a question mark over whether or not the suit has been settled. There is now an article on the Seattle Times site disputing the settlement.

As I found out talking to Scott Wakefield. See new post!

As the host of www.chihulyscrewedme.com I had the distinction of being the first (one year ago) to publish details of Chihuly Studio Boss, Billy O'Neill's nefarious (reads: criminal) past. I also predicted that Chihuly would evntually displace blame for the frivolous lawsuits broght in his name, on "others". Most noteably the carpetbagger back door arivists who bought a seat on the Boathous Board. In fact most of the Times background story on Chihuly and O'Neill was plagarized from my site. Now as Chihuly attempts to wiggle out of his "defamation" case against me I fully intend to unleash all the evidence of consumer fruad that is being waged in Chihulyland. Can anyone say "perpwalk"?
