It's worth noting that the House minimum wage increase is a total scam. The House Republicans tied it to reductions in the estate tax and a bunch of other tax breaks, knowing full well that Senate Democrats would block any bill containing those provisions.

So they (House Repubs) get to go home and crow about how they tried to raise the minimum wage, but the Democrats blocked it, even though they never had any intention of raising it a cent.

Assholes.

Good point, Anthony.

My question is, who are the 48 percent who hate America and DON'T want our troops home? We've got massive fires in our drought-filled country right now, and the damage they cause is far worse than the continued quagmire.

please, please keep the harper's index style stuff coming. love it, love it, love it.

You forgot another number:

11% - Cantwell's lead over McGavick according to the new Rasmussen poll.

Ugh, please tell me The Stranger has not finally succumbed to the most idiotic journalistic device to come along in the last couple decades. Nothing sucks the meaningful context from numbers and emphasizes their least relevant qualities, all the while obliterating any kind of informative narrative, quite like the "By the Numbers" list does.

Another number:

33% - percent of Americans still dumb enough to think we should be in Iraq.
