Project Runway Starts Tonight!

Posted by on July 12 at 10:40 AM

Warning: This post contains massive amounts of geeking out over Project Runway.

Okay, so I watched last night’s “Road to the Runway,ā€¯ where Bravo introduced the 15 designers starring in the brand new season of Project Runway (which starts tonight at 10 pm!), and I already have my season crush all picked out: Bradley Baumkirchner.

I know, I know, he’s not nearly as adorable as Danny V., but his audition tape was really funny and his design book and sample clothes were super cute! His colorful, vintage-inspired pieces looked a little geeky (hot librarian-style), but were also still really classic and charming… Check out this dress from his Fall ‘06 collection. (You can see more of his work here.)

Besides all that, he also has a great smile. You don’t see it in the pictures, but it’s there. Just watch tonight to see. Now some blogs are saying he’s boring and will be one of the first to go. Bastards! They might be right, as I’m terrible at predictions, but if I had to guess I’d say he’s gonna be that quiet and super-talented one who surprises everybody. Sorta like Chloe, who won last season, might I remind you.

I’m also rooting for Vincent (I like the crazies) and Katherine. Though I doubt the latter will get very far. And they’ll keep that pretty girl for awhile, ‘cause people appreciate the presence of a pretty girl.

That Malan is trouble, though, I’ll tell you that much. I also don’t trust that mother of five with the insanely bright lipstick. And Jeffrey, the token rocker dude, seems to be aching to settle into the role of the new Santino.

Man! I can’t wait until 10 pm! (And yes, I’m aware it’s slightly—okay, very—pathetic.)

Haven't seen the pre-show yet, but I've also picked Bradley as my crush too! I based that on scanning the pictures from the website even though they are really horrible shots of everyone, models included. Yuck!
Can't wait for tonight though!

Here's a little treat from last season: http://gofugyourself.typepad.com/
Scroll down to the 4th entry!

I've been shaking with excitement since, like, the second season finale.

I just watched the pre-show and I cannot wait for the competition to begin. I've been obsessed with this show since the first season. I like to see people with talent, and I love fasion. I wish I could see every designer stay to the end.
I haven't picked a favorite yet, but I like Alison and Bonnie. They both have pretty interesting styles and I want to see what they do.
Oh, and if you keep this blog going all season I will be here to discuss the designers. I tried the bravo boards, but there are way too many people there and 75% of them have nothing to say.

enigma: if history repeats itself, someone will post a short open thread after every episode for discussion

Don't worry, I'll probably be littering the blog with my Project Runway previews and reviews every Wednesday and Thursday. One hour to go!

And I totally forgot to give props to that Barbie dress designer. He's sorta adorable too. Let's not forget about him.

ok, a little bleh

liked the winning dress, HATED the designer that made it

loves robert best (barbie dress guy)

and re: love of bradley: he's a little grating but I really like the oversized fall look

yes, keith is very cute, but a COMPLETE asshole. which is disappointed. roberty best is fucking hilarious! soo cute, and i'm using not into that type of guy. but when he pouted about his pillow, i totally felt him. i would have slapped a bitch who tried to take my pillow.

While the winning dress was pretty I failed to see anything innovative about it. As this was the innovation challenge, I don't think he deserved to win at all. And the fact that he's a jerknut has very little to do with my opinion. (Of course it doesn't help either!)

I think they sent the right person home - get the "Marla" character off early this time around.

I hope they do the immunity thing somewhat differently this season. Last season I felt everyone played it too safe just to stay out of the bottom three. People need to want to win the weekly challenges not just not lose them.

I think I *heart* Michael. He's a sleeper. Just watch, the rest will be having their diva hissy-fits, and he's off quietly in the corner doing his work - and he'll be the last man standing at the end.
