These are the pieces of graffitti I passed on my way to work this morning.

Some are new, some are very old. The last stencil piece says "R.I.P. Infernal Noise."

2 of those are graffitti, one is a sticker and the other 2 are stencils.

The graffitti looks like shit. The sticker represents laziness, but the stencils at least try to look good or be funny.

Graffitti always looks better in photos than in real life. I've seen some of these in real life and they aren't as striking.

Um, isn't the stencil the thing that was used to mask the paint, and the resulting mark on the wall a graffito? Seems like nitpicking to me.

I'm so glad you caught the Lincoln stencil--I passed it the other day and thought, "I should tell Cori about that...", thinking it might make a good cover...

i still haven't seen any pieces in seattle that warrant occupying any MB's on my digital camera. check flikr for tags: graffiti or street art to witness some real skills. the shit on the windows on the corner of 11th and Pine is sad.

When we were in Melbourne, Australia, we took a train out to a fairly distant suburb, and the almost endless stream of amazing giant graffiti on the wall next to the tracks -- literally miles and miles of it -- was something to behold. Why didn't I take any pictures?

I agree, Seattle graffiti blows. There are a couple of idiots on 45th who just cover everything with diarrhea.

there's a great portrait at 11th & harrison on the traffic island [much better than poor ol abe]. go see it.
lots of places around the world have some great stuff - central poland, berlin, and yes, even oz. go to flickr and be amazed.

trash

On the corner of 12th and Jackson there was a really cool mural, until someone scrawled some piss poor looking tag all over it and they just had to paint over the mural. Seriously, WTF?!

Hey, to all the lame taggers who graffiti the murals under the bridges and public buildings - I hope a King County Transit Cop beats you up and puts you in hospital!

Now, if you don't like that, come to my house and I'll show you what the Geneva Convention doesn't permit because it's torture ...

sucks compared to barcelona (although the lincoln is pretty badass):

ooohhh, the barcelona stuff is nice.

I like graffiti on freight trains and yesterday was browsing a book called just that "Freight Train Graffiti". There was a couple of pages on a tagger called the Colossus of Roads - I had posted a foto of a tag of his on my blog and, unbeknownst to me, he's something of a legend from the Bay Area. http://lovelywaterparade.blogspot.com/2006/04/pump-up-volume.html If you don't like Seattle Graffit - check out the train yards,,, could be from somewhere else.

Not exactly Banksy, is it.

i'm a big fan of the site www.stencilrevolution.com

let's all learn to stencil and create public art! yippeee!

Talking about Graf is like dreaming about whistling.

Grab your coat and hat, you're about to log off the internet for 2 whole days!

I like the octopus and horse stencils. The Lincoln's pretty cool, too.
