Well, it seems as though black people are doomed to be "HIV positive", whether they're on the continent of Africa, or not. When are folks going to get their heads out of thier asses when it comes to AIDS and racism?

When are stupid-ass AIDS protagonists going to wake up to this eugenics campaign and look into the sloppy science which is the base of the AIDS paradigm and all research from that point?

.. i wasn't able to get the link and get the details of the story.. and who knows what bd's going on about (although i'm sure we're going to hear more about it momentarily ..)..
but i'll say that seiing gil scott heron in the mid 90's would rank as the third most dissapointing perfomance i've witnessed in life ( sly stone no show and resultant full scale riot in chicago's grant park in 1970 and marvin gaye's on stage ego inflated antics in 1977 rank 1st and 3rd ) he was paired with linton kwesi johnson as a back to back solo show at the hub ballroom. and while lkj's barebones recital was revelatory and and damned near awe inspiring.. gsh was drunk and drinking. seated at an electric piano, he ranted with all the insight of george carlin and richard pryor during their looniest period, as if his audience wanted a comedian instead of a gifted social poet. yep .. my man was drunk when he half rapped half droned 'the bottle' a song he'd written about the evils of alcohol a decade or so earlier. he's been in and out of trouble since then reported coke, then crack problems and now this. pretty sad.
and i just read that syd barrett died yesterday..

Riz - you saw Marvin? Man, Im envious, even if he was higher than a giraffe's arsehole, I would have loved to see him live. 77? Thats the year Got to give it up came out right? I once saw Billy ( Me and Mrs Jones)Paul at a strip bar in Philly where I had snuck in as a kid, and he was drunk as hell, drinking rolling rock beer with Joe Frazier. It was something, I will always treasure.

Dont worry about BD man, he is clearly a nut.

Seme..
i am prollly the luckiest man alive..but enough about me.. marvin was dissapointing because he didn't sing.. it was at the chicago international ampitheater.. a venue so close to the slaughterhouses that you couldn't escape the smell ever especially in the august heat..( i'll tell you about seeing the jackson 5 there too, someday ) it was the second of two sold out shows that day with the ohio players as openers.. the first show ran so late that people wouldn't leave ..so there was brawling breaking out all over the place and the ohio players were stoned and pissed.. when marvin finally came out about three hours late.. he was drunk and high and clearly after poonanny.. he stripped his shirt off and threw it into the screaming audience and began pulling women/girls on stage who handed him panties that he rubbed all over himself and threw back as souvenirs..
i was thinking about gs-h some more later today and figured that his appearance at the hub may have been as early as 89 - 92.. he had been struggling with demons at least that far back..
