Bush Has the Veto (and He’s Not Afraid to Use It)

Posted by on July 10 at 14:52 PM

From the Denver Post:

President Bush will likely cast the first veto of his presidency if the Senate, as expected, passes legislation to expand federal funding of embryonic stem-cell research, White House aide Karl Rove said today.

“The president is emphatic about this,” Rove said in a meeting with the editorial board of The Denver Post.

The U.S. House of Representatives has already passed the legislation, co-sponsored by Rep. Diana DeGette, D-Denver, and Rep. Mike Castle, R-Del. If the Senate approves the bill this month it would go to the president’s desk.

“It is something we would, frankly, like to avoid,” Rove said, when asked if the White House

But Rove said that he believes the legislation will pass the Senate with more than 60 votes this month, “and as a result the president would, as he has previously said emphatically, veto the Castle bill.”

Rove then peeled a banana with his foot, smeared shit on the wall as he left.

So they have michael J fox and me dear old granny in one hand, and a lump of non-descript cells in the other... and they chose to save the lump 'o cells, right? After all those years on Family Ties defending the Reagan administration, this is how they re-pay Michale J Fox? Back stabbin, people hatin bastards!

Remember, under the bush policy, if you have money it is totally legal to buy/sell/destroy etc embryos. This is about public funding, and by extention, transparency in the process.

I'd be much more impressed with bush if he supported an ethically consistent ban on the purchase or sale of human embryos, regardless of the funding source.

As it stands, we get the worst of both worlds: hampered publically funded scientific research with secretive privately funded work with human embryos.

Face it, Bush is so over it's not even funny any more. Somebody put a bag over his head, and turn down the volume.

I accept the fact that we have an asshole for president for the remainder of this term. However, can't he just shut up?

Send him off somewhere, give him a big manly marine to have sex with (since he's a pathetic closet case), and leave us alone. The government can run itself. They don't need him.

And while we're at it, could someone pop Rove in a bag, ship him to Iraq, and let them listen to his insanity?

Please, just stuff a sock in him - and Cheney too.

That was so unfair to our cousins, the apes.

No, no. Send Bush to Russia to be with his one true love. Maybe Putin will kiss his belly.
