Arts Women Are Monsters, Or Everything’s Better With Dalí
(Exhibit A: The movie poster for Lions Gate’s Descent, about women who descend into a cave for an adventure and discover A. a race of monsters adapted for the dark living there, and B. that the women themselves are scarier than the monsters.)
(Exhibit B: In Voluptas Mors by Philippe Halsmann in collaboration with Salvador Dalí, 1951.)
A footnote: Can someone confirm that the Latin translation of “In Voluptas Mors” is “In Pleasure, Death”?
The Descent poster kind of looses the scull image. The eyes aren't dark like a scull so that's doesn't work. Also, they need another lovely lady on the top to make the top of the head. Dali-one; Lion's gate-0. But at least they're trying to do something interesting for a film poster.
