While My Ukulele Gently Weeps

It ain’t the Passion, Ben, but I think we can agree that this guy can play the shit out of a ukulele.

It's impressive, but he's not nearly as cute as Stephanie Roberts playing Quenn's 'Pressure' at uke-a-looza.

Dammit, that's a QUEEN song! Quenn sucks! When are we going to get an edit button around here?!?!

Holy shit! Knock me over with a Q-tip. After numerous bad Hawaiian luaus, I too had concluded that the ukulele was a bastard instrument incapable of decent sound. This guy is stunning! (Although I am still left wondering what he'd be capable of if he turned his attention to a real guitar instead.) Pretty amazing.

Oh, and Gurldoggie, you're wrong. This guy is adorable. I'd eat him for lunch.

The ukulele is just as real as the guitar.

There is a ton of great Hawai'ian music that has nothing to do with crappy luaus. Get thee to a Gabby Pahinui record right away.

You-kulele, Me-kulele, How happy we could be-kulele.

A-kulele, B-kulele, C-kulele, Ukulele, me...

I've seen this guy play live at the Capitol in Hawaii. He's the best ukulele player in the world and is internationally known.

If you can, find one of his songs entitled "Ehime Maru." It's written about the Japanese fishing boat that collided with a military vessel offshore and killed some Japanese marine biology students.

Jake Shimabukuro is an amazing performer - he came to Seattle (well, Kirkland actually) not too long ago and put on one hell of a show!
