Was the 2004 Election Stolen?

Posted by on June 1 at 13:43 PM

The Rolling Stone article, by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., is now online.

I was just reading it and I'm still having trouble picking my jaw up off the floor.

I've ignored most of the GOP-stole-the-election stuff since 2004; I easily dismissed it as the work of crackpots, those who couldn't let go, or Diebold conspiracy theorists. Reading this, I'm no longer quite sure whether I'm living in the United States, or a Latin American "democracy."

Yes, of course it was. Heck, just look at the illegal funding in Ohio ...

But, with the West going to mail-in ballots and optical card readers, it will all be for nought.

Well, duh. OF course it was stolen.

That's the big joke about the GOP and conservatives in general: They insist that we are a "conservative christian" nation, and we're not. Even in the "Heartland" there's a lot of good old-fashioned perverts who just want to be left alone to drink themselves into a stupor and look at titties on the internet, and only go to church for funerals and the occassional Christmas.

Only by lying to a bunch of simple-minded fundies and outright election interference are they able to keep power.

Of course, this will be ignored or explained away because the article was written by a Kennedy and published in a "hippy" magazine.

Say what you will about the Kennedy's - and there's an awful lot to say - they have a lot of good, productive, intelligent members in their ranks. Contrast that with the Bush family.

blah blah blah.

just more hot air as to why democrats are better then republicans. if it really, really is true, that Bush had the election stolen for him, then where are the fleets of lawyers? where are all the people who have legitimate power and legitimate authority to investigate the executive branch?

nowhere

sure, the evidence Kennedy presented looks legit when it is in a rock magazine. By why the fuck doesn't something really get done?

short answer: democrats want the white house and could win the WH, but they will need to work with repubs to get laws passed, approve budgets, etc. Just another beltway clusterfuck powerplay where everyone is a winner.

"Voters, move along, nothing to see here. Vote for my bum, because he is better then the other bum."

The evidence of fraud in the 2004 election might play better now, as it provides a pleasant fig leaf for those who once supported bush but now recognize him as a total unmitigated disaster.

Isn't Bush below 50% approval in all but three states? Believing that the 2004 election was stolen allows many folk to regain some faith in their own wisdom...

Stolen. Wake the hell up, Phenics. They wouldn't have the brass balls to even try this stuff if they didn't have a bunch of sheep like you and a totally passive media (and opposition party) to allow them to get away with it. When you have numbers like that thrown at you and you can still just dismiss it, you are livin in La La land where America is a pristine democracy run by the will of the people. The people with "legitimate power" that you are looking for, are the ones making this happen. you can't disenfranchise people with real power, but you can easily disenfranchise the democratic base because all you have to do is say "lefty nutcase" when they complain and everyone like you just goes right back to sleep.

I live in Ohio.

The green and libertarian parties called for a recount (the dems really should have), and it was only a partial recount due to suppression by republican secretary of state Ken Blackwell. Blackwell is running for governor of ohio this year. One of the most vocal protestors of the stolen election, Bob Fitrakis (you'll find him credited as a source in that article) is running for governor as a green party member (well, kind of, the green party isn't an official party in Ohio).

So...yeah this isn't really news to me.

wow, thanks longball, really handed me my ass on a plate. you got me, I am just a little guy with no family name, no family money, no personal fortune... hell I am such a loser I don't even have a personal phone number of one elected offical. So yeah, I ain't and can't do a damn thing about it. other then be pissed.

you are so right... i would love to do something about them apples. So exactly what the fuck are you planning on doing with those numbers? let me guess... you want to vote the guy out. If you got a plan that actually involves something beside the that, then let the slog hear. but until then, thanks for the hot air.

I'm going to go home and drink, that's what i'm going to do. for now.

I actually fwd this to everyone with a pulse that i know. I may not rewrite any election laws today, but when my country is obviously hijacked and democracy subverted, i'm not going to sit back and say "blah blah blah". That attitude is exactly why politicians and media can ignore it.

Drink up tonight for tomorrow the outrage will surely continue. Sounds like a plan to me.

Repeat after me: Impeach The MoFo Already!!

Haven't read it yet, but will. Probably a replay of Conyers Crackpot stuff via Harpers.

Or perhaps young Kennedy is plagiarizing again, as young Kennedy's do. Sounds entirely too familiar to anyone who has read about stolen elections, as reported by an obscure journalist named Seymour Hersh in an obscure book called the Dark Side of Camelot. Check it out, & your jaws will drop not just to the floor but through the floor & into the septic tank.

Why aren't the dems smart enough to use these kinds of tactics to win elections! Are liberals too nice not to try shit like this? Maybe republicans do have bigger balls?

Stealing an election does not take "balls", it takes a vile and contemptible disgust for both the country and the will of its people.
