The Root of All Evil

Posted by on June 27 at 10:36 AM

dawkins.jpgRichard Dawkins’s razor-sharp (and often inadvertently funny) condemnation of religion (“the process of nonthinking called faith”), The Root of All Evil, is available on Google video
(Part 1 and Part 2). The series originally appeared in January on Channel 4 in the UK. Each half is 45 or so minutes of adamantly atheist entertainment.

Richard Dawkins = Satan

This is gold...

Physicist and Nobel prizewinner Stephen Weinberg describes religion as an insult to human dignity. 'Without it,' he says, 'you'd have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, it takes religion.'

God bless Dawkins. Bless 'im.

Wipe shit on a Torah, piss christ, religions are all stupid. Jews and Christians cause all the world's problems.

Care to elaborate, Newton?

If anyone wants to read a more detailed and more carefully argued version of the claims made in Part 2 - here's an important essay by Dawkins available online:

very engaging this, but I'm more than a little freaked as Dawkin nervously blinks when getting yelled at by the fundies...man, is he flinching. ouch. it's tough to watch. hmmm, tho' I would still like to see/hear/read the entire dialogues from part one.

It's too hyperbolic a plea for atheism to be "sharp" in the smart sense of the word.
Something so chock full of lazy generalizations has only one value: shock value.
