I don’t really fucking loathe much in this world, but as you might infer from the first paragraph of this week’s theater column, I really fucking loathe chewing gum. Really. I prefer halitosis.
So you can imagine how I feel about the gum wall at Pike Place Market. (Nauseated.) And the fact that it has been called out, by the AP, as a tourist attraction. (Ashamed.)

Too bad you never went to the old Elitch Gardens amusement park in Denver before Six Flags got a hold of them. The line to The Splinter (the resident splash down the mountain ride) passed by a tree that was completely covered in gum. The Gum Wall at Pike Place is less impressive.
the only way to make the gum wall any worse would be to include used band-aids and cigarette butts.

I second the anti-gum sentiment! Why do people insist on chewing it?! They look like horses or cows when they do (not that that in itself is so bad...).
