One More for The Morning News

Posted by on June 28 at 10:04 AM

From the living to the dead: The marine in Fahrenheit 9/11 was bombed to death in Iraq. As we all well know (and will ever really know), being dead is being totally nothing, which is why the Bible says that being a living dog is better than being a dead lion. Being something is infinitely better than being nothing. Farewell forever Staff Sgt. Raymond J. Plouhar.

I heard about this this morning. His father is making a point about how his son "didn't know" that Michael Moore was making an "anti-Bush" movie, which would make him one of the dumbest dead people ever.

That father is an asshole: Sells his kid to the military-industrial complex, then continues to defend this war. Some people should never procreate.

Better him than one of his recruits, I suppose. Better yet: Nobody.

Said Hadrian to one of the Rabbis, 'I am better than Moses, your teacher, because I am alive and he is dead; and you are aware that your King Solomon said, A living dog is better than a dead lion.' 'Could you prohibit anything, say the kindling of light or fire for only three days?' asked the Rabbi. 'Certainly,' replied Hadrian. In the evening Hadrian and Rabbi Joshua went up to the top of the house to sit down in the cool of the night, when the latter, observing smoke coming out of one of the chimneys of a house, asked his friend how it was that his prohibition was disregarded. Hadrian replied that in the house whence the smoke came there lived a man of distinction, who being unwell probably found it desirable to have a fire lit in his house. 'And yet,' retorted the Rabbi, 'You consider yourself superior to Moses, although whilst you are living your law--which would only entail inconvenience for a day or so--is at once set at nought; whereas the law of Moses, who said we must not kindle a fire on the Sabbath day,--which means fifty-two days in each year--is strictly observed by rich and poor though he is dead.'--Mid. Ruth 3.

Charles, Jewish tradition affirms that the human soul is immortal and thus survives the physical death of the body. The Hereafter is sometimes described with terms such as Olam Haba.

Our soldiers in Iraq do not die for nothing. And you may want to consult Pascal before you wager against the afterlife. Also we can be comforted in knowing that Israel is made stronger by these sacrifices. That is good for America.

When you're dead, you stay dead. Just ask Warring Hudsucker.

If only all Christians and Jews believed death was nothingness, and religion was stupid. We could hand Israel over to it's rightful owners, Jews could get over their "promised land" obsession and stop killing innocent people, and the Christians would allow homos to marry.

A living Palestinian dog is better than a dead Biblical King. So what gives Jews the right to kill in the name of their dead Kings?

yet ANOTHER slog post that has nothing to do with Isareal yet the comments are about Israel. Is something going on in Israel right about now?

Anyways, I'm glad to see that at least this guy was willing to do what he was recruting young poor kids to do. I can't tolerate a hypocrite AND a coward.

Yes something is going on in Israel right now. (Read the today's news highlights). Also many believe Iraq deaths are directly related to Israel and Oil, not "liberation" of Iraq.

I just read the above NYT report before I read this slog entry.

It's easy to get mad, easier to turn a blind eye. It's hard to try to understand anything related to this war, or any war. The Colonel's words at the end will stay with me for a long time, I think.

Thats purty fawking heartless don't you think.

"Oh see now your nothing Staff Sgt. Raymond J. Plouhar, you weren't so smart now were you."

Hea Chuck, how does taking pop shots at a dead man help you win support for your big plan to run away in Iraq?
