Playing to the concerns and suspicions of the blogger base, he announced new legislation "to ensure that Americans are not misled again about a national security challenge." Reid's "Iran Intelligence Oversight Act," which he said he will introduce next week, would require President Bush to report to Congress on his Iran strategy, and also would require U.S. intelligence services to review any statements that Bush and Cheney are planning to make on Iran, in order to ensure...

Comment by SDA in SEA

Reid's "Iran Intelligence Oversight Act" proposal is fantasy legislation that will be dead on arrival. There is absolutely zero chance of anything remotely like that being passed by the Republican controlled House and Senate, or Bush's certain veto.

I'm not necessarily saying it's a bad idea. Only that it is a waste of time and energy to push for legislation like that which there is no hope of getting passed. It is good for little more than a symbolic gesture (although at this point, that may not be a bad idea).

Not Very Harry Reid, Whore, By John Solomon, Associated Press, Tuesday, May 30, 2006, via Washington Post:

"Senate Democratic Leader Harry M. Reid (Nev.) accepted free ringside tickets from the Nevada Athletic Commission to three professional boxing matches while that state agency was trying to influence him on federal regulation of boxing.

"Reid took the free seats for Las Vegas fights between 2003 and 2005 as he was pressing legislation to increase government oversight of the sport, including the creation of a federal boxing commission that Nevada's agency feared might usurp its authority. ..."

(Probably stashed them in his freezer.)

Irony: Harry Reid, being a Mormon, would take offense from the language of the GIVE EM HELL, HARRY sign in the 2nd photo. He would insist the offending language be covered up or the sign removed, had he seen it.

you assume, gomez. for all we know, he would realize that it's not meant literally, and not care. he's seems like a reasonable guy. a couple of my friends in college were mormon, and they seemed fine with hanging out with a lefty gay guy. i'm sure mormons are the same as christians. most are cool, but the minority who are assholes are just louder.

I grew up around entire large groups of Mormons, KC. The vast majority, adults and teenagers alike, say heck and gosh darn and crud, and get record-screech offended when you swear, AT ALL (not even crude F bombs... just damn and hell or even crap will do). Some will even refuse to speak to you when you do.
