I live in Sandy Eggo and Brian Bilbray is actually a pretty decent sort, for a Republican. He's not as good as Busby of course, and it is shameful that he has not publicly repudiated the NRCC attack ads against Busby. Even the very conservative local newspaper took him to task for that.
Moving to San Diego from Seattle was an eye-opener - this is a heavily military, extremely Christian outpost that's separated from secular hedonist LA by 30 miles of Camp Pendleton. I love it, and it has a strong GLBT community, but boy is it conservative!
Bilbray is a moderate Republican and the district is solid red. If Busby can take advantage of low turnout to win the special election, she will be hard-pressed to hold it in November. I think Bilbray takes it 52-48ish.
Wow, Busby Bilbray is still alive and campaigning? I've just finished watching the new DVD collection of Busby's Warner Brothers musicals from the early 1930s.
