Well, What Do You Know? Bill Sherman is For Marriage Equality

Posted by on May 21 at 16:42 PM

Bill Sherman, one of Jamie Pederson’s opponents in the race to replace Ed Murray in the State House of Reps, just dropped by my house—it wasn’t an appointment, and Bill didn’t know I lived at this address. He’s just out ringing doorbells in the ‘hood.

And what do you know? Bill Sherman—like, oh, all of Jamie Pederson’s other opponents, I’m thinking—is for full marriage equality.

Bill Sherman is working his ass off for that seat. I was impressed when I met him at Drinking Liberally.

I was impressed when I met him on my porch.

I concur that Bill Sherman is an impressive dude. And I can't turn around without bumping into the guy (and I don't live in the 43rd anymore). Maybe there are actually two of him.

I've endorsed Bill Sherman. He sought ought my support because I'm a board member for a statewide environmental group, but our conversation delved into other issues, including marriage equality, juvenile justice reform, and the reconstruction of 520. I find him impressive, too, not just because he's working so hard to win the seat (as are most of the fine candidates in the field, of course) but also because when he talks about issues, it's clear he has a built-in awareness of the complexities involved in legislating those same issues in Olympia. In short, the guy has really thought through what he wants to do (and can reasonably accomplish) as a legislator, and has then worked back from there to formulate his campaign platform. Too often, candidates focus only on telling us what they believe, not what they believe they can do. Bill's not one of those candidates.

Bill Sherman is smart, thoughtful and would be an effective legislator. I've known him for years through the 43rd District Dems. He's "right on" on the issues that resonate in the district, particularly the 3 e's: environmental protection, equality, and education.

i have met bill several times as well and he is always incredibly knowledgible on the issues. he seems to be more of a well-rounded candidate and not a one-issue screamer like, say jamie or lynn.

Bill's got my endorsement too. He may be the hardest working guy I know, but also one of the most thoughtful. It seems like, whatever issue I care about, Bill's thought it through more deeply (and strategically) than I have.
