Return of the Killer Bees!

Posted by on May 25 at 10:00 AM

Tonight brings together two of my favorite things—Sick Bees and the Comet Tavern. Sick Bees are a two-piece unit with Starla rocking the Telecaster/vox/muumuu, and Julio smacking the junkyard drums. They make pretty/discordant noise-rock that shrieks and coos and jangles and pummels and waltzes and makes you wanna jump around. They only play a couple shows a year, so catch em while you can. Some of their recordings can be found at Up Records.

Here’s a sweet picture of them.

Also playing is Arkade, Welcome (who I think still includes Dean and Mike from Double Fudge, but I may be wrong) and Arthur & Yu.

See you at the Comet.

mmm sick bees. I've only heard a bit of them, but in one song that stuck in my head they were using a bach cantata. good stuff.

(anyone who pulls of incorperating bach in their art rock and doesn't make it sound cheesy is f'n awesome)

lame ripoff of the dresden dolls...

I assume the walking stick is a reference to Wavis O'Shave's 1979 punk classic "Don't Crush Bees To Death With Your Walking Stick".

Hmm, maybe not.

"If you crush those bees to death I'm gon' be sick".

dresdon formed in 2000.
sick bees had two releases in 98.

who's copying whom?

(really they're quite different, just sayin you make no sense, slaughter house lame)

"Dresden Dolls" ?!? Jeez man, have you even heard these two bands?
