Rebel: Buy this Thing!

Posted by on May 23 at 12:44 PM

News flash: People who buy Ipods are sheep. People who buy this knockoff, on the other hand, are “free thinkers, contrarians, and malcontents.”

I

Evidently doing the "less than 3" universal heart sign in the comments field negates everything you write.

Take two:

I *heart* my iPod. I am not about to hop on the anti iPod bandwagon. iPod haters are sheep.

You'll need to escape the angle bracket to get <3 to work: <3

(Also, be careful when previewing the comment, it will undo the escapes.)

Oooh, it has "user replaceable batter"!

Sounds great! The pre-set pancakes I make with my ipod are just dry and tasteless.

It appears that this iDont site is nothing but a corporate site masquerading as a "rebel" site. Might steal a few sheep from the herd, but the stolen sheeps will still be sheep.

Hey, I don't want to be a sheeple. I think I'll buy one of these. Hey, won't that make me a sheeple of the malcontents?

DREWVSEA beat me to my point. iDon't is a Sansa marketing site.

hmmm... the concept of consumer sheep and their connection to consumer goods. Sounds like a cutting-edge topic. Tell me more...

Could somebody please do 1000+ word post on the "evils of"? Extra credit if you can work in the merits of the Mac products over everything else. A gold star if you can work in vocabulary that is a dead give away for demonstrating current college enrollment.

Please. I so really need something to ignore, seems like everything these days needs a comment or something. Please, Please help me to ignore you. Thanks in advance.

You could include a couple of paragraphs about how Sansa is "corporate" and thus evil, while Apple somehow isn't. Because "corporate" doesn't mean "produced by an incorporated business" but rather "produced by a company whose marketing strategy does not contribute to my own sense of coolness".

People who don't listen to portable music while out and about pay attention to the world around them, instead of shutting it out and trying to find their happy place and power animal, in that order.

Dear God, we're stuck in a backlash feedback loop! Mac is a backlash to PC (or just marketed that way), iDont is a backlash to Mac (or just marketed that way)... now here we have a split: there is backlash against iDont, and a backlash against those who don’t iDont. I'm so confused.

Maybe I can just buy products and not have to tell everyone why mine are superior?

Naw, screw that. I'm cooler than you.

My Ipod nano knock-off rocks, and does more than a nano without the need for any smuggism or lame DRM infested shopping apps.

Can anyone recommend a really reliable, good-sounding portable CD player? I'm in the market for one and I'm utterly serious.

iPods? Sansas? Flashes in the pan.

I still haven't cheated on my Sony Vinyl Walkman. May Dad won it on "The Joker's Wild" in the bonus round. It clowns Ipod.

Segal: I've yet to have a problem with my Panasonic SL-SV500 (knocking wood here). I've had it for at least a few years now. And it has am/fm as well, which can be nice.

As far as sounding good, I haven't compared it, sound-wise, to others, but it sounds fine to me.

I have yet to find a portable record player that works for me, though.

Thanks, Levislade.

If the iPod opened itself to other services (Napster, Rhapsody, EMusic, Urge) I'd consider owning one.

The real 'sheep' aspect of the iPod is revealed by the fact that the earbuds are crap, yet iPod users don't replace them. Not only does it sound bad, but it's killing your ears.

It's for fashion not for actual love of music.

TPoCT beat me to the point, but I'll make it anyway:

If you like the price and features of the iPod, by all means buy the iPod. If you like the Sansa (or whatever), buy the Sansa (or whatever).

The choice doesn't make you sheep (or not sheep). Listening to people who tell you it does is what can make you sheep.

As for trying to tell people that making a choice other than yours makes them sheep, well that just makes you a hypocrite.

Don't even get me started on the multiple flawed assumptions in Drake's comment...

Lemmings of the world unite!
