Radiohead announce U.S. tour dates

Posted by on May 1 at 9:18 AM

But the bad news for local fans? None of the shows are in Seattle, Portland, or even bloody San Francisco or Vancouver, BC. Oh well, it’s summer, right? So take a few vacation days and that “rainy day” money and go see ‘em at Bonnaroo, which has a pretty awesome line-up this year, including Tom Petty, Cat Power, Common, Dr. John, Nickel Creek, and Gomez. Plus the greatest novelty act that is anything but a novelty, Hasidic rap-reggae sensation Matisyahu.

Tickets for the earliest shows go on sale May 6. And while there are no plans for a new Radiohead album in 2006, the sets will reportedly feature lots of newly written material, which one imagines is earmarked for future release. Specific dates and details—for those of you who a) reside in other cities or b) are dripping with disposable income are below the cut…

RADIOHEAD ANNOUNCE U.S. DATES
June 1-30 U.S. shows to follow May 6-19 UK/Euro dates

Radiohead has announced a series of theatre dates in the U.S., beginning June 1 & 2 in Philadelphia and concluding with a pair of dates June 29 & 30 at Los Angeles' Greek Theater.

Set lists for the shows will draw heavily on the newer material the band has been working on over the past months. The performances will take place in smaller than usual venues, and will feature appropriately scaled down staging and lighting design, creating a suitably intimate environment for the first ever airings of several new songs.

The low-key theater dates will punctuated by a June 17 headline stand at the Bonnaroo festival in Manchester, Tennessee, and will be preceded by similar dates in Europe and the UK followed by a run of UK/Europe festival dates including the already sold out V festival Aug. 19 & 20, with others TBA.

There are no plans for a Radiohead album release any time in 2006.

oh god, this is terrible news. i thought the days of skipping seattle when planning a tour were over?

radiohead live has proven to be a near-religious experience in the past. i'm hoping they have more dates to announce and are simply being coy.

The Berkeley play is a San Francisco play. It's the same market and I'm sure it was either two shows at the Greek or one show at Shoreline.

Too bad about the northwest, though. Radiohead is one of the few bands that I would begin to consider maybe paying stupid money to see.

us southern folk are getting screwed over as well. when they were in ATL in 04 it was sold out and rocking. i really hope they will consider adding a couple of more dates. my friends and i were planning a trip to see them already.
