Mixed Messages From Saudi Arabia

Posted by on May 17 at 12:30 PM

The bad news: The Saudi king has demanded that newspapers stop running pictures of women.

The good news: Soon, those women will be able to buy lingerie from shop girls instead of shop boys.

According to Charles and Erica Arabs, Chinese, Mexican all other races chose their magazine covers without predjudice. It's only white males who discrimintate. So this posting about Arab discrimination must be a lie.

If the posting is not a lie, then white males must be forcing these Arabs to discriminate. Send Erica-(boycot the Mexican Republican and ruin his restaurant)- Barnett to investigate.

There must be a white male conspiracy behind this.

I miss the pre-troll Slog.

Me too.

I miss the pre troll slog, but most of all I miss the pre Stranger Seattle. Back in the days of The Rocket and Belltown News we could read about local happenings without slogging through a bunch of trust fund crybabies calling everyone a racist. Nirvana was playing free shows at Beehive records and Capitol Hill rent was $200 a month. The Rocket just printed the news without all the "I want Seattle to be just like Manhattan" bullshit.

I miss the pre-Seattle Northwest, when you could dig all the free clams you wanted, catch all the wild Duwamish River salmon you could eat, laze about in your dugout canoe, and not have to listen to whiney trust fund crybabies complain about the rain, or the smell, or the fact that they had to wait 150 years for someone to build a Starbucks nearby.

Earth was so much better before homo sapiens arrived on the scene.

I miss the time before homo sapiens, but most of all I miss the time before earth. No gravity, just floating around without a care in the world. And then BANG! Earth. Starbucks and trust funds were inevitable from that point on. God I fucking hate everything.

I love the Slog with the Trolls. It got kind of boring with all the "Oh Dan Savage I love you" postings, nice to have to oppositional voices there too.

I miss the Stranger. After the Republicans staged a coup in 2008 and replaced the last vestiges of democracy with the Save America Committee, they shipped all those whiney trust-fund babies off to a labor camp in Idaho. I hear they also tracked down all the Slog contributors. I also miss when a Starbucks grande frapuccino only cost $8, and when I didn't have to take my canoe to float down 1st avenue to get to work because the polar ice caps melted and raised sea levels. At least I don't have to pay $36 for a gallon of gas anymore.

Future Reader, tell us -- did the melting ice caps at least solve the problem of the damned Viaduct?

After the local Save America Committee debated and fretted over what to do for a short eleven years, it fell over in 2017. It made a big splashing noise. Now they use the pillars for public floggings of homosexuals, Slog readers and other general philanderers.

Does anyone out there know where the Beehive Records used to be or if its still around?
