...until the greatest sporting event in the world. That's right: the goddamn World Cup. I know George & Dragon will be swarming with fanatics. And my own neighborhood hangout the Summit Public House is going to be all over the tournament. But where else in town is a good place to get your World Cup on?...

The Elysian carried all the World Cup matches in 2002 - even the ones that were broadcast live at 2:30 AM and 5 AM. I don't know if they're doing that again this time around but it was a great place to watch.

I am afraid you have it all wrong,Bradley. The greatest sporting event in the world is the 24 Hours of Le Mans. I might suggest finding a spot at the Arnage corner. I have always thought it the best place for viewing the racing. The weather can be unpredictable at times, and I might suggest being prepared for rain and humidity. June 17-18 2006. Le Mans is located in the western Loire region of France. It is noted for its fine recipes of roasted duckling.

Comment by Gomez

LOL The 24 Hours of Air Pollution and Fuel Wastage.

In Las Vegas, the Brits' prime destination for watching football on telly was the Crown and Anchor. I had a friend who says that the place ran the gamut of hyperbolaic emotion during the Euro Cup final between Man U and, IIRC, PSV Eindhoven. This was the year they went for the treble (win the FA Cup, Premier League title and the Euro Cup all in the same year). They were down 1-0 in like the 88th minute. The bar, packed with Brits, was beside themselves in depression. And then they scored two goals in the span of 5 minutes. And with each goal the place just went batshit nuts.

Too bad I didn't find out about George & Dragon until the football season was basically over. It would've been cool to catch a Premier League match in a British pub.
