The Truth For Real

Posted by on May 4 at 16:03 PM

The extension of Douglass-Truth Library, which is currently under construction, keeps getting better and better:

I cant wait to see what it will look like tomorrow. Beautiful buildings make me happier than spring.

And what is so terrific about that?
My reaction from your photo is BFD.

Raw Hata:

Three guesses what my reaction to your post is.

Hey Nigger Scholar,

Why not educate us ignorant why that building is more beautiful than any other building? Isn't beauty a social construct?

For a two thousand years the Parthenon was the standard for architecture. Then Scholars like you said that kind of beauty is just white male oppression.

In the hierarchy of world libraries, Seattle ranks between embarassing and pathetic. You have the world's richest man living in your town, so where's something on the scale of the library of Alexandria?

Are you still bragging about that five story upscale retail mall with a book spiral stuck in the middle designed by a has been Dutch starchitect known for Prada stores? He's such a great designer he forgot to put in a place to actually read books, and stuck it on as an afterthought.

Compared to Institut de France in Paris, to the splendid Vatican Library in Rome, or the majestic Royal Library in El Escorial, Spain, the photo you posted looks like a Honey Bucket.

To anyone who really knows or cares about architecture, Seattle looks like a sad case of what could have been winter, spring, summer or fall. And now your collegues are popping boners over all the ugly tall buildings the developers can put up all over town.

So nigger scholar, if you really think your little steel and chrome photo is beautiful, riddle me this - beautiful compared to what?

Student of Beauty

P.S. I'd be careful saying any man made thing is more beautiful that Spring. It's one thing to compare a hack Seattle remodel to architecture in say Paris, but Poets much better than yourself have humbled themselves before the pageant of the seasons. No building will ever be more beautiful that Spring itself.

Hey, SOB, isn't that supposed to be "Schola Nigga"?

Anyway, you're the worst type of hippie with your "you aren't good enough so I'm gonna spend an hour writing a directionless whiney complaint... I know how you should act and everyone but me is a hypocrite."

Ha, 'jokes on you, racist Snob Hippie!

I like the way the sun hits the building, and its kinda weird, the reflection of trees in window look like palm trees.

I dig that they didn't knock the old one down, and they didn't 'preserve' it in adminstrative aspic; they chose a third way (imagine - another way!) to remix it with contemporary intent.

I just hope the western facing glass wall doesn't make it a solar oven during our eight hour summer afternoons.

Architecture snobs bore me. I love Seattle's tallest building, the Columbia center. It's big, it's black and it glistens before beautiful Puget Sound.

No building is really any better than another, taste is subjective. I'm glad Seattle allows all types of building styles and sizes, and isn't afraid to tear down to build newer, better structures.

Hippies are all racists and snobs, they want everyone to eat expensive vegan food because they are the only ones who know how to act.

Hippies leave Seattle, you are not wanted here.

Mudede - Remind me again why it's OK to use "Faggot" but not OK to use "Nigger"?
Or are both politically correct now?
