Anderson Cooper’s Mysterious Secret

Posted by on May 28 at 11:06 AM

From this week’s Entertainment Weekly, I give you Anderson Cooper on guilty television pleasures:

“I TiVo a lot of shows on MTV—stuff like My Super Sweet 16 that’s jaw-dropping and mind-numbing—and I’ll watch it on weekends. Now I like Tiara Girls. Oh, my God.”

On an entirely unrelated note, did you know that Mr. Cooper is a closeted Vanderbilt? Don’t you think that it’s kind of shameful that, in this day and age, someone should have to be afraid of the public’s reaction to his being a Vanderbilt? Say it, Anderson, say it! “I’m a Vanderbilt and I’m proud!

Gloria Vanderbilt bottoms are the tops!

He sorta already did "say it!" - he was on Oprah for an interview along side his mom, Gloria.

I mean, that's what I heard anyway.

It's been known for years that he's a Vanderbilt. Never hidden it, but neither has he worn it like a badge - should he be?

He discusses this so-called secret in Vanity Fair. The cover story. Does the Stranger ever check its facts before writing stuff?

Let me just explain here: by "A Vanderbilt," I meant, "Gay." I meant that Anderson Cooper should just come out of the closet, already. I was employing the power of euphemism.
But thanks for taking my Slog post about Anderson Cooper so seriously, Do You Read?--I'll be sure to fact-check all of them in the future. Jeezis.

There's been a social stigma to being a Vanderbilt ever since their fortune was wiped out in the Stock Market Crash of '29. They were one of the few big families that failed to properly diversify.

I'd probably keep it quiet too.

You didn't hear it from me, but rumor has it that his sister is an Astor.

Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems to me that at one point he was "out", and now he's "vague".

Maybe he's so clearly a homo I just thought he was out.

Euphemism? Is that French?

At any rate, Vanderbilt or not, Anderson Cooper has every right to be happy.
